It definitely looks like things really went downhill @ Reason 8. Which seems surprising as I recall Mattias saying it was best or fasting selling version ever.

Actually, a couple of months ago - June 13 apparently - I was bored so I checked out the likes/dislikes on major Reason versions(and 9.5):

ver____likes-------dislikes___ratio
R6 __ 1500^^_____032!!____02.1% negative view
R7____1800^^____041!!____02.2%
R8____1100^^____104!!____09.4%
R9____1600^^____462!!____28.8%
R9.5__2400^^____059!!____02.4%
R10___2400^^____149!!____06.2%
R11___2000^^____119!!____05.9%
R+____431^^_____1500!!____3.5:1 negative to positive ratio o_0!!

Looks like R8 started the downhill trend with the like/dislike ratio as well with a quadrupling+ of the negative opinion and a lowering of people even bothering to like.
Big negative view for R9 as well.
But introducing VST in 9.5 brought Reason back to its original low 2% negative view - probably the same % of sad trolls who will always dislike Reason.
The amount of people who liked Reason 9.5 more than doubled from Reason 8. And there were still more likes for 11 than 6 which was arguably a pretty popular version. So maybe its not as bad as the YT views show.

But, yeah, that R+ introduction has really flipped the like/disliked ratio massively.
So, it looks like YouTube removed the "dislike" button a few days ago. I did notice that last week the dislike for R12 was 222. The likes just turned over to 1.2K from 1.1K, so the percentage ratio will be slightly more accurate now. So, for Reason 12 upgrade:

ver____likes-------dislikes___ratio
R12___1200^^____222______18.5% negative view

The ratio was getting better (not including the R+ launch, which was unfair to include in the negative % data) over the years, but there is a 3X increase in negative view from v11. :(

The platform needs this new blood to grow otherwise it'll just wither and die along with us grumpy old buggers.

Maybe older videos have more views because they've been around longer? 🤔 :D

Also, look at all those peaks! It's not like views dropped overall. That might just show that people are much more interested in content than they are into hype and announcement videos.
That's an interesting point. So you're suggesting that no one cares about upgrading anymore? Or as much? Personally, I don't care about upgrading as much either, but if I get an email from a company and they have a new product/upgrade YT vid, I'd check out the content to see if it was worth my while to upgrade. (well, I'd still wait out for a sale, cheap-ass that I am  )
I'm saying that people may be less into hype or marketing videos from the companies themselves. And there's so many more content creators and reviewers these days.

When I personally see something pop-up in my YouTube suggestions, such as a new sample library, I skip viewing the announcement video and go straight to the site to look for the list of features. I go back to YouTube and I look for hands-on reviews. So whether or not a certain company isn't getting views from me for a certain product, doesn't mean I'm not interested in that product or didn't buy it. I probably instead watched the Sweetwater walkthrough video or similar.

OMG! If this trend continues, they will have NEGATIVE views on future videos. How is that going to work? ha ha

Here are a couple Google Trends search results. Kind of interesting.

This chart is interesting. Strange to see the search results for "reason studios" way back in 2005. But that is a pretty steady decline for "properllerheads" searches. Not sure what this really means, though. Just an interesting graph.

It looks like the heaviest search traffic for RS (blue map) is coming from Sweden. Interesting. Are they googling themselves? ha ha

For some perspective, the Google Trends for Ableton Live shows a decline of over 75% since 2013--to nearly an all-time low. That doesn't track with reality, so I wouldn't draw much meaning from these graphs.

75% learned to use the Ableton forum search, instead of google.

What nerds.

The older Reason YouTube ads were way more polished with the cool announcer, and humor.

Also the updates from 7 to 9 where pretty non controversial. Every update will stem an amount of controversy but the updates back then where well rounded and didn't really foreshadow the future.

Update 10 started I think what we have now.

I think they went counter to what many people wanted core DAW improvements and focused solely on synths. With very minor core DAW improvements, this upset many users. Every update afterwards has been pretty much saying Reason wants to be more of an instrument and less of a DAW. This don't sound like a big deal but there where probably many Reason 6 users who was still waiting for the ultimate DAW and it never arrived.

Also the updates seem smaller. Other companies (on the plugin side) are starting to get criticism for the same things. Refx Nexus just got an update that people are saying is not enough.

That's a good perspective, and one that selected conveniently overlooks.  Another perspective is that the OP started their account here barely 4 months ago and made a grand total of 3 posts - all critical and click baity.
