It lacks the detection of the root key as on grain, failing that a small detection rack of the note would be welcome, (a can like Gtune by gvst)
+1 for that.

A simple bypass effects LED top left of the all the bottom last row of effects would've been handy too:- Comp, Effect and EQ to quickly bypass on or off.

It doesn't look like you can reset the transient markers on the sample either, so if you move one then decide nah, you can ctrl click to return it to it's default position like with parameters.

Can mimic load rex files?
No, unfortunately.

I did not find how to access the sample editor as we can do with other samplers (should we edit our samples before importing them into mimic?
All samplers editors can be accessed by CNTRL+clicking the sample button.

So question will Mimic Creative Sampler tempo detect, tempo match, key detect & key shift which is the only reason I'm using Serato Sample and I was hoping this new Mimic Sampler would bring me back to Reason?

Tempo match what? It's a sampler and all of the features are pretty much described in the video. If you need to tempo match slices you sequence by your sequencer and handle tempo that way no?

yes
Will this be added as part of the perpetual reason 12 or a product that people have to buy if not on reason+? If you cant answer yet it's fine but thought I would ask.

Time to test mimic out on my reason+ trial soon I think.
It's built into Reason 12 and will be available in the perpetual version when it releases in September.

Awesome. What he said about never using samples….same here. Most often because pitching up or down changes the length of the note. Stretch!!!!!! Soooooooo good!!!!! Well done.

So i'm assuming you've never used Serato Sample huh? You can match the tempo of the sample to what ever tempo you choose doesn't matter if it's a loop or slices.

This device is looking really great!
One thing I couldn't figure out from the video is if there is any easy way to send an individual slice to its own sample slot?

Currently there is no tempo sync or root note analysation. I'm hopeful that these features will be added in an update 🙂

For now these things are adjusted manually by dialing in the speed knob until your phrase matches tempo and clicking and dragging to set the root note and adjusting fine tuning in the pitch settings.

Aside from using a tuner, you can load your sample into Grain to get the root note (it will analyze and tell you the root note and the fine tuning) and then use those settings in Mimic...

Yeah I'm trying to cut out extra steps in my production I'm currently going back & forth with Recycle Slices to Serato Sample just so I can use the Key Detection function. So right now Serato Sample is still superior in those regards & I'm going to stick with it hopefully the new combinator will have more CV input/outs which will make Native Instruments Battery more useful then the current combinator...

Same reason as ReDrum, I'd guess.

Where are the sends in the signal path?

I guess if they're after the internal effect/comp/EQ then it doesn't make much difference - you'd just send out to another mix channel or what not.

Exactly what I was thinking. To tempo match the whole sample. Time-Stretching the individual slices / transients isn't the same thing and key detection is pretty darn essential as well. If you start a track off with a sample it's easy but the other way round it's not although you can pitch samples in Mimic and do it by ear.

They are post everything, so probably included so you can save the send amount in the patch (and for combinators?) and/or automate it - again, same as for ReDrum.

What's the shortcut for snapping to zero crossing?
Can you select multiple slots and adjust parameters all at once?

ReDrum is a good analogy. It is a device that was pretty exciting fifteen years ago. Not so much now. I feel like Mimic is an old device that was just released. The best I can say about it is that it's fine. There are so many other samplers that are far more creative.

So built in hey, that's frown me?

Guess that means you have to upgrade to V12 if you want it,

wouldn't it have made more sense to publish as a RE and be able to sell it to users of lower versions
you could have still given it for free to V12 perpetual licensing and included it within the subscription service.....

How's it measuring up to expectations for all you currently using a sampler vst in your productions?
