I took advantage of the $3 3 month sub, mainly to get a look at the sound packs.
They are nice enough, but I would want RS to please spare a moment to consider how the packs are structured after install. Some of them are fine, while many others inexplicably create a totally unnecessary extra subfolder with the same name (or sometimes another), making it a pain to browse through them. Yes, these extra mouse clicks matter, especially with 100s of packs.
Also, I'm not a fan of their location in my user profile. In fact I don't want them filling up my SSD OS-disk at all.
While I'm at it, I wouldn't mind being able to turn off downloading all the audio demos of every single patch. They can stay in the Companion app.
Sound pack directory structure - drop the unnecessary folders!

Yeah, we're aware that this is pretty suboptimal today. It's definitely one of the things we want to improve (better structure + more control around what elements of a pack to download).Arrant wrote: ↑19 Jul 2021I took advantage of the $3 3 month sub, mainly to get a look at the sound packs.

That's great that it is being considered, many of us have smaller SSD OS: drives, it is vital we can load larger files into other directories.
I also think the soundpacks are great but there will soon be so many of them they need sorting in different ways, more filters etc.
PS- 'soundpacks' is not a great description as they can be FX racks, drum programs, song starters- whatever...how about 'Rack Packs'

Absolutely. The search and tag system is extremely rudimentary right now. Big improvements there together with some smarter things like recommendations is on the list of things we'll tackle for sure.slic wrote: ↑19 Jul 2021That's great that it is being considered, many of us have smaller SSD OS: drives, it is vital we can load larger files into other directories.

It would be nice to have colored tags one day. Sometimes words only can't describe a feeling, and how to categorize the sounds you are creating.
