- ID8: I always start with it these days
- Redrum: too lazy to place and route Kongs, I use one Redrum for each sample
- MClass compressor: I do not need more than that mostly

Then I use The Legend and Parsec2 to replace the ID8s.

Top five of the moment, that I don't normally use:

Ataraxic Iteritas Vereor.....bit tables are fun

Grain....bit tables sampled into Grain are fun too.

Beat Map

Scenic

Klang

I really need to add Lectric Panda - Kompulsion, Lectric Panda - Evolution, Reason - Pattern Mutator, Reason - Beatmap, and Tonic Mint - AB Transpose to my list (top 10 players).
Beatmap followed by AutoLatch in a player stack can run non-percussive instruments very nicely.

I've really been into combining and spidering the player devices lately. The instruments and FX change, but these five players seem to find their way into all my projects, these days.

Robotic Bean - Sequences
Robotic Bean - Euclidean
Static Cling - AutoLatch
Static Cling - Delta MIDI Computer
Love One - MIDI CV Converter
I really don't use the Players much, can you give me a basic example of how you would combine them with spiders as I am not aware of anything like this?
I shouldn't have said spiders. I didn't mean the Reason "spiders." I meant something like spiderwebs on the back of the rack... like players stacked on top of each other and then a pair of MIDI CV Converter sending the notes to another stack of players across the rack, running another instrument (MIDI CV Converter is basically like a MIDI CV Spider). Ever seen one of Carly/Poohbear's videos? Something like that! You can have a lot of fun doing that sort of thing. I know I always get some really unexpected (and otherwise unimagined) results; Players have helped to further "my" creativity. If I ever have writers block or am tired of coming up with the same old sounding stuff, I start experimenting with different player combinations (combinators?) and it opens up new directions.

Pulverizer, my all time favorite for punch and grit. Probably my most used device in RRP.
Yes! Thanks for mentioning this, tonight I tried adding it to a few things and now I'm hooked!

Fritz
I know Fritz is really cool but I've never spent enough time with it to allow myself to not be intimidated by it, I just get a mess from it so it collects dust but I know I should love it. I hope to get around to it one day.

I'm the same. That's why I always use the Random Patch Generator. Always. If it didn't have the randomizer I would never buy it.
I find it's a great tool to get some weird background noises, or movement/life in some sounds if you set the wet pretty low.

I know can be a dickish sort of question, but have you read the manual? Not all manuals are helpful, but this one does a great job of breaking down the various functions & how they work. I spent a long time just mashing the randomise button, but then when I finally got around to reading the manual I was really surprised how much it demystified Fritz, and wished I'd read it earlier. There's a lot of cool shit you can do that isn't just berserk noise, especially when you start messing around in Sync mode

The tracks I'm working at the moment all have:

RS' QuadNote Generator (it's an amazing starter for basslines)
RS' Electric Bass
Ekss' WaveMaster
RS' Algoritm
Ekss' SineSynth

On Mastering i make use of Xfer's OTT and Slate's Fresh Air (both free!)

Depends what you're doing doesn't it, what genre etc.

All vocals get Selig De-Esser straight away, Korg M1 gets used for it's piano on house tracks, Synapse Deep Reverb, the free Arturia Jun-6 Chorus and Scaler 2.

Shoulda said Top 5 Effects and Top 5 VST synths:-

Plug-in Boutique Scaler 2
Reaper Re-EQ (FabFilter Pro Q3 emulation)
Reason Studio's DDL-1 or The Echo
Selig De-Esser

Synths / Drums / Samplers

Air Music Technology Hybrid 2
Korg M1
Reason Studio's NN-XT
Reason Studio's ReDrum
Synapse The Legend

Umph Club Drums (my go-to drum machine, like Redrum 2.0)
SpaceXpander (sometimes this just sounds better than Audiothing Springs)
Saturation Knob (makes drums sound big and tasty)
UVI Percussion Store (essential multi-sampled world percussion)
Klevgrand Skaka (programable percussion which often sounds 95% like actual loops)

Reading the Fritz manual is on my to-do list! I bought it a while ago to use on a delay for realtime guitar processing but never got round to taking the time to learn it.

They do. Especially if you're new to this stuff and/or don't have any of the 'Mother' range of devices. Not much interest to me, as I have the DFAM. But very cool idea I think.

And actually if you combine the manual w the randomise you can start a cool random sound and then understand how to dial it in just where you want it.
I love Fritz.

I’d say mimic but it’s too twitchy with how I work so, Grain still.

Fab Pro Q
Fab volcano
Trash2
Fritz

There’s all the reverb, selig gain, exciters n stuff...but that just goes on everything so it’s not really worth mentioning.

Fab Timeless 3

I’m going through a real Fab phase.
