I follow a bunch of tips-and-techniques accounts on Instagram and elsewhere.
If nothing else, it provides 30-second bursts of interest-specific entertainment. Go ahead; call me a geek.
I don't worry about which DAW is the focus of each one because I can usually map the ideas onto Reason.
I saw one recently about a technique for controlling reverb using an "envelope follower".
It wasn't quite the same thing as gated reverb, or rather it seemed different enough that I wanted to play with it.
Does Reason have a device that could be used as a general-purpose "envelope follower"? Am I being dense? If not, is there an RE?

Nearly every compressor in Reason can be an envelope follower. Also some specific devices were made for this. Just look at the back for a Gain Reduction CV output or a Gain meter output, which you can connect to any control.integerpoet wrote: ↑26 Mar 2021I follow a bunch of tips-and-techniques accounts on Instagram and elsewhere.

Here, i made a quite nice patch with an envelope follower which controls a tremolo (?) on a reverb:

and it’s so good. you can get some super meaty sounds out of that thing.
I think this one is a envelope follower too, but i always found it a bit difficult to dial in my envelope:
