If RS drops Reason DAW, would you keep upgrading the RRP?
This poll is based on the - hopefully wrong - assumption that RS plans to phase-out Reason DAW and focus on RRP and new REs.
Obviously, this isn't a poll for Reason+ users (or those that consider using it), as they're always on the most up-to-date version.
I'm giving 4 options, for simplicity (and hopefully completeness):
1) Yes - I want to support RS whatever happens and I'll upgrade as soon as new version is out
2) Yes, for new stuff - I plan on using RRP like I do Kontakt or Reaktor, e.g. I will upgrade if there's new exciting features added to RRP and/or new REs that I might want to buy require new version of RRP
3) Yes, only to keep old stuff running - I don't plan on getting new REs, so I will only upgrade if it's necessary to retain access to the library of REs I already own (e.g. if upgrades to OS and/or hardware render current RRP version obsolete)
4) No - I'm saying RS "goodbye!" & I'll use current RRP for as long as it works, but once it stops I'm just uninstalling it

They are not going to drop the DAW people, Jesus. Find something better to do with your time.

Using Reason since version 3 and still never finished a song.

How about you stop giving them ideas?
Maybe if to make Reason better they need to drop it to start over with a new daw, that then I could get behind. Otherwise, nonsense.

I think this quotation has been taken out of context.antic604 wrote: ↑15 Mar 2021This poll is based on the - hopefully wrong - assumption that RS plans to phase-out Reason DAW and focus on RRP and new REs.
Mattias has been getting asked about the "Empty Rack" Reason version for a long time - including by me. I really want to see that version as it is a massive boost for RE Developers if/when it happens.
Did he say that?

Yet I think the answer reveals - IMO, obviously - much more than what was asked
It's Mattias who gave me the idea! Up to that point, I was pretty convinced they will continue with Reason DAW, despite all signs against it.
They did. It's called Ableton Live, according to 30% of RRP usersPhillipOrdonez wrote: ↑15 Mar 2021Maybe if to make Reason better they need to drop it to start over with a new daw, that then I could get behind.

I can see antic604's new obsession going on forever...
[Reason Studios releases Reason 15 DAW]
antic604: "Well, never say never. They could drop it before Reason 16."
[Reason Studios releases Reason 20 DAW]
antic604: "Allow me to remind you all of a comment made answering someone way back in 2021, asking if they can purchase the RRP separately from the DAW..."
It may never stop lol

@antic604 give it a rest mate. You're up and down the whole internet freaking out about a snippet of a quote you have more than likely taken completely out of context.
Isn't doom & gloom threads a constant on ReasonTalk?
At least I'm trying to give them a quantitative spin with polls

Have you considered taking up a hobby? I think you need it. Won't suggest music making because you clearly would never do that.

Maybe there is a model aeroplane company you can worry about the future of.
I'm sure there are people covering that alreadyJackjackdaw wrote: ↑15 Mar 2021Maybe there is a model aeroplane company you can worry about the future of.
RS can't drop the DAW even if they wanted to. RRP is many things, but strategically, the biggest interest for RS is it being a trojan DAW which will win them new users every time the competitors slip up. That's why they won't sell RRP separately, because it's a losing game. If they wanted to go that way, they'd have to fire everyone, rename to Reason Instruments and hire a complete new set of employees to develop VSTs.
If we were to judge Mattias based on his "statements", then we could say he is basically retarded, but it's quite clear to me based on the streams that he is a devoted and intelligent person. He has worked there for a long time and has access to sales data and demographics. Don't read into those "statements" - they are marketing.
We will see what they actually DO in R12.
