Octorex as a plug in difficulties

I'll keep this to Dr Octorex, but it's true of all reason devices that okay patterns.
In the Reason sequencer, I have had great success changing patterns and making complex parts with Octorex. When I try to do the same with it in Studio One (or any non Reason sequencer) the only way to change patterns is with automation. Rather than drawing a pattern block on the Octorex track. This causes the Octorex to play the loop from the beginning, whereas in Reason, your block could have a portion cut off and Reason would play it in the middle.
I hope this makes sense. Does anybody have a tactic for making this work in plugin mode on other sequencer?
