Hi,
Many - if not most - members of this forum have been using Reason for a long time. We have paid for Reason outright, upgrading over the years as new versions were released. This means that the new Reason+ subscription isn't for us, and you'll see that its introduction has promoted a good deal of commentary (and concern) on this forum.
That said, the majority of us love Reason, and would like nothing more than to see it grow.
So, if you're new to Reason, and are enjoying the new subscription service, we'd love to hear your thoughts. (Honestly, there are probably a few forum members who think that this thread will not receive many replies, so it would be valuable to us to hear from you.)
Good luck, enjoy Reason, and any questions, just shout

I’m new to Reason+, but not to Reason. I’ve used it since 1.0 (was a Rebirth user before). I’ve upgraded sporadically over the years but bought Suite 11 and just signed up for +. For me, I don’t mind subscriptions and I like the regular sound content aspect - and getting the regular updates without having to buy a new upgrade every year or two.
The cost over time is going to be within $50-$100 of what I’d spend on updates normally a year which is reasonable, with the added flexibility of being able to cancel/pause my sub when music is a priority for me.
I also love Reason - it’s very creative and inspiring to use, so I want to support Props.

As someone that was on Reason 9 (Been a Reason user since 5) and the upgrade price to Suite was too expensive, Reason+ was a no brainer, especially because I've been asking Reason Studios for this for years. The only issue is the online only part. Its fine now because I have wifi and data on my phone but like for moments when I'm at the airport or in the plane, it can be an issue.

I'm also a longtime Reason user who subscribed (sorry, I know you're looking for new users). But I feel exactly the same as what was expressed by Eclipxe.

As a suite owner Im giving the free trial ago to check out the sound packs. I want to get my friend into it as he just came back to Reason last year and is using Standard - he doesn't have VSTs either.
Considering the half price year trial so I can play with any new instruments and R12 on release. As long as the upgrade price to R12 is reasonable I'll probably do that as well anyway. May yet cancel after a month if my friend is not that bothered by having all the new sounds and devices. I dont have Pattern Mutator or Friktion yet either.
I assume we get to keep the patches anyway? Obviously those involving instruments you dont own wouldnt work at end of sub.

BTW if I continue for the year on the half price sub I have to say that there is no way I'd renew it at full price as a Suite 11 license holder - not exactly a revelation for anybody but it needs saying. Thanks for the 50% intro but what next?
I'm happy to give them a chance and let this bed in but would like to start seeing a lot more love & exclusive deals for license holders who give R+ a fair go and also to all license holders in general , particularly if the subs side takes off.

I mean, probably the patches will go, but we can save them anyways?Tiny Montgomery wrote: ↑01 Feb 2021I assume we get to keep the patches anyway? Obviously those involving instruments you dont own wouldnt work at end of sub.
Unless they've gone through extreme lengths to stop this, I guess the patches will be save-able

Thanks, yes I noticed the locations and wondered if a copy/paste somewhere else might be needed at some stage!
As a Suite 11er I wanted to say thank you and welcome to all the new R+ers™

All the packs and patches you install are yours to keep. You don't have to re-save them or move them anywhere. Our job and incentive is to keep making Reason+ so appealing that subscribers want to stay with us over time - based on the constant stream of Reason updates, new devices and new content.
Long, long ago, one of my little brothers' band-mates handed me a box of software labelled ReBirth (version something) and exclaimed that I could have it if I could just make it play some Rhythm and Blues, or maybe some Jazz. I took it home, cautiously installed it, and in less than a week earned its ownership by providing no fewer than six tunes from that platform, all Jazz, R&B, and Soul. In two cases the songs were covers of well-known songs, to prove that it was possible, that I wasn't just making stuff up.
Through the years that followed, I chickened out on my first, best destiny and shifted careers into Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, and lately Mechatronics (Robotics!) Engineering. To put this in perspective, I just paid off my last student loan late last year, and I'm in my early fifties. Those career choices were by no means inexpensive! But that gave me the possibility to follow the Reason product from an illegal copy (I didn't know it at the time) of Reason 2.0 upward through v11 Suite, only skipping Reason 5 due to being between jobs. So I was in every way fortunate. (But not a musician by trade. An important distinction...)
Little brother decided to bravely remain primarily a musician, and as a result hasn't had all the benefits that I was able to muster through the years. We would collaborate (he remains a viciously talented Reaper user!) and we would make heavy use of WAV files (some would call them stems) to get our points across to each other. Nobody could fathom the things that I have learned from him during these times.
But, since the introduction of Reason+, my little brother can now afford to join the Reason family. It's inexpensive, which is good because he has to fight hard for the gigs that he manages to keep. Fortuitously he's incredibly talented and works hard to differentiate himself from the masses. And now he has Reason+, and we have begun to exchange thoughts and ideas on this common (Reasonable!) platform.

That simply wouldn't have been possible without the Reason+ subscription plan offered up here. I never felt threatened by it, and never made the assumption that the sky was falling or Reason Studios were selling me out. I only saw that they had found a method by which they could bring my little brother and I together without him having to resort to piracy. It is an absolute delight to be able to play music with my little brother, both my most effective collaborator and quite often my biggest competition. And now we can do it more easily, spending less time buffing out inconsistencies between platforms and more time getting tonal with it. With a tear of absolute joy in my eye I cannot thank Reason Studios enough for creating a method that allows us to share our talents once again on a common (favorite) platform.
To the people at Reason Studios: Thanks guys (and gals, and whomever else). I thought that maybe you'd like to hear from someone whose life was impacted for the better in the current storm of criticism. This has been an amazing boon for us both!

2.0.1 2.2 1.0 1.0 11 Suite + ________ Love the entire product line!
Yeah i highly doubted that
So to make things even more appealing, how about splitting it up in sections?
Like some other said, a permanent discount would be nice for owners of the full product :3 (we will most likely upgrade reason anyways!)

I can't comment specifically on future discounts and the like, because honestly I don't have anything to share, but I can assure you we are constantly evaluating different models and ways to help users get up to date with Reason.

Hats off to Navi Retlav for Avant Rock Guitars. I'm new to Friktion too so having a heck of a lot of fun here today.
These are the kind of combinators I want from Reason in general. They're so epic and full and exactly what I need as a non guitarist who likes that sound.
More importantly they're just great adverts for the software.

Yes! Navi's Friktion Packs we did at the launch are all great. In fact, his patches in general are great! Glad you're digging them!
I would really like to know why I can't use the sound packs, I own suite and have purchased friktion and would at least like the option to check out some of them in the rack?jamespember wrote: ↑02 Feb 2021

Those bass patches aren't bad at all. Friktion is very versatile.jamespember wrote: ↑02 Feb 2021https://share.reasonstudios.com/pack/46Tiny Montgomery wrote: ↑02 Feb 2021Hats off to Navi Retlav for Avant Rock Guitars. I'm new to Friktion too so having a heck of a lot of fun here today.

Not sure what you mean. All of the sound packs remain installed on your computer and available in Companion
Joey I'm not trying to start anything, I don't want to argue with you or anyone nor do I want to go off topic but subscription is not for me and up until the companion app these sound packs had been made available for free on the blog https://www.reasonstudios.com/blog for everyone to try and that was pretty sweet.
I mean to ask if these packs will stay in the companion app (or elsewhere) and grow like a library or if the packs will be removed after a certain time, as newer soundpacks arrive. I have not signed up for the free month yet so I have no clue how the companion app works.
Yes, I was going to mention that. Here's a Friktion specific one: https://www.reasonstudios.com/blog/down ... ktion-packBilly+ wrote: ↑02 Feb 2021Joey I'm not trying to start anything, I don't want to argue with you or anyone nor do I want to go off topic but subscription is not for me and up until the companion app these sound packs had been made available for free on the blog https://www.reasonstudios.com/blog for everyone to try and that was pretty sweet.
That said, this thread is for those who are new Reason+ Subscribers after all...

I only engaged because of the links that showed the sound packs...
