Hello. I am trying to connect my RD-6 to Reason. I have a USB Cable to connect to the laptop or Midi Cables via my Presonus 26c Interface not sure which to use. I am a beginner at all this stuff and not very tech savvy as yet. Could anyone help me through the process of getting my Drum Machine to work in Reason. Thank You.
This is the third time you've posted this exact same question. clearly you haven't got what you wanted from replies in the previous posts but if you'd just have followed up on those replies with more precise questions maybe you would have got further by now. Spamming the same thing over and over kind of looks weird.
If you're doing this via a USB cable then I would expect Reason to pick up the RD-6 as a MIDI device. Click edit, then preferences, then go to the control surfaces tab and then under input devices you should see your RD-6 as an option. Make sure 'enabled' is ticked meaning that the external MIDI instrument will be able to see it when it's plugged in.
If you're using a standard MIDI cable then pick the Presonus as the MIDI device.
Choose the RD-6/Presonus in the External MIDI instrument (you'll find it in the instruments list in the browser) and if there is MIDI in the sequencer or if you have a sequencing device plugged into the note/gate ports in the back of the external MIDI instrument you should be golden.
I do not have Reason 8, only Reason 10. I am assuming that the process is the same.

To actually hear the RD-6's output you need to make an Audio Track and set its front panel to be listening to the correct input port of your soundcard. Make sure that Record and monitoring are enabled on the audio track in the sequencer (the red circle and the little speaker icons) and you should be able to hear it.RoryM0 wrote: ↑30 Jan 2021This is the third time you've posted this exact same question. clearly you haven't got what you wanted from replies in the previous posts but if you'd just have followed up on those replies with more precise questions maybe you would have got further by now. Hi thanks for helping me out here. Sorry about the multiple messages that were the same. Frustration was getting tin the way. I have the RD6 hooked up via USB but still not getting any sound. I have attached a few screenshots of the current settings.RoryM0 wrote: ↑30 Jan 2021To actually hear the RD-6's output you need to make an Audio Track and set its front panel to be listening to the correct input port of your soundcard. Thanks for all your help.
Hmm yeah this is where R8 appears to diverge from R10 as underneath the attached surfaces dialogue in keyboards and control surfaces I have a box with 'easy midi inputs' which is where I would find my RD-6 if it was connected by USB...
I see cursors' message saying try channel 10, but the RD-6 definitely receives on channel 1 as you already have selected (I have the RD-6 manual in front of me). So now I'm actually a bit stumped. Can anyone with knowledge of R8 chip in and help here?

Still cant hear anything but showing there is signal in the pic below
Forget the MIDI for a moment, so you can't even get the sound of the RD-6 into the audio track? Just check some obvious stuff first to be sure - you defo have the volume turned up? You can hear the RD-6 through the headphones port? (just to check it's actually making sound) It's audio out is plugged into an input on your presonus yeah?

Yeah i was thinking the RD6 did not need to be added in Control Surfaces. I have just deleted. These are how Reason 8 preferences appear

Yeah man i have just got the headphones plugged into the Laptop and using built in-output and avoiding using the interface for the time being just to avoid any more confusion hahaRoryM0 wrote: ↑30 Jan 2021Forget the MIDI for a moment, so you can't even get the sound of the RD-6 into the audio track? Ah right. Well then you need to pick the audio in that Reason will be listening to... so in your audio track (as per the image a few posts above) it says No Audio Input...that needs to say something there - usually you would choose your dedicated soundcard but if you're just using your laptop's audio in then i'm not really sure what you would choose to get Reason to listen to that. You may need to choose something like 'Microsoft MME' but don't quote me as typically the setup you're using right now is not one people would choose.
The irony is that NOT using your interface may be adding some confusion !

Only seems to detect the RD6 in both EMI and Audio Track when I add as a control surface at the moment.

getting sound through the interface with my signal out from the rd-6 into the presonus but just not sure how its not linking to the EMI so everything is in sync. Sorry if i am making no sense throughout all this and i appreciate your time helping very much
Right, so if you just want the RD-6 to be in sync with Reason, then select MIDI USB in SynthTribe (you can also do it straight from the RD-6 by pressing pattern group and write/next together and pressing button 3).
Next you need to press 'send clock' in the transport bar:
BUT make sure you add the RD-6 in your prefs for sending external clock to (your image a few posts above) here's mine:
Obviously that's not an RD-6, it's my soundcard with a MIDI port. But make sure RD-6 is there on yours.
