UK Reason+ pricing

As a UK user, it annoys me when the pricing structure seems to think that $20 equates to £20. It's actually just £14.61. Or if you prefer, £20 is $27.39.
Why does the UK get ripped off like this?

At least you don't have to buy it in Euros, my bank used to rob me silly for non standard currency even when we was part of the EU.CaptainBlack wrote: ↑27 Jan 2021As a UK user, it annoys me when the pricing structure seems to think that $20 equates to £20. As a general rule, the US gets everything cheaper as a result of bulk buying power. It's entirely legit too, I've seen the numbers, they do genuinely buy a lot more stuff than everywhere else, and far more than the discount could ever account for, it's very pronounced actually.
Slightly unrelated, but I tell you what's even worse, if you live in Northern Ireland, still part of the UK, and you buy say a guitar from a big outlet in the UK, no free shipping because it only applies to the mainland UK 9 out of 10 times, can be up to a £20 add on. I've been buying guitars, amps, pedals, etc., and recently some music-related hardware from all over Europe because you get free shipping, and somehow it still gets here quicker than from England!!!!!

You can change your location in profile to be US and pay in dollars...CaptainBlack wrote: ↑27 Jan 2021As a UK user, it annoys me when the pricing structure seems to think that $20 equates to £20. It's actually just £14.61. Or if you prefer, £20 is $27.39.

Bad advice. It's in fact tax evasion.antic604 wrote: ↑28 Jan 2021You can change your location in profile to be US and pay in dollars...CaptainBlack wrote: ↑27 Jan 2021As a UK user, it annoys me when the pricing structure seems to think that $20 equates to £20. So is buying Reason upgrades from JRR Shop or Audiodeluxe, yet most Europeans on this forum, KvR, FB or Reddit do that.
That is nonsense. Just that its a non EU shop and you buy from EU is not automatically tax evasion. They bill you automatically taxes. Ever checked your bill in detail?
But if you fake a different country to avoid taxes, well... You don't need to be too smart to understand, that this is tax evasion

I don't know the specificities of how things are handled in other countries, but here in the US for instance, if I buy something from outside of my state and it doesn't include tax, I'm actually required to pay a use tax for that separately.
But also when you buy from those stores, are you using an address other than your own? If you are using your own address and it's doing conversions and adding taxes or not, then I think that's safe (and you may still need to figure if you owe taxes). But lying about your address though to avoid tax is a totally different thing, as Loque mentions—it's tax evasion.
No, JRR or Audiodeluxe does not add tax even though I'm clearly stating I'm from Poland and they're (I think) US based.Loque wrote: ↑28 Jan 2021That is nonsense. And obviously I'm not encouraging anyone to lie to RS. Out of curiosity I tried changing my address to US to see if it changes the prices to USD few months ago and then asked support to revert it back to my actual address.

Sure I did. I can't check JRR, because all orders are lost after their website went down few months ago, but here's receipt from Audiodeluxe, for example:
Poland.
And they'd laugh me off in the tax office if I came there saying I want to pay taxes on a VST or DAW
tbh, maybe some of the shops do not take the VAT for some reason and you just pay more for the product in the end and you are left out with the risk of tax evasion.
