Reason updates (11.3.7 / 11.3.8) and Reason+

I already spent a bunch of money and I'm quite content with my tools now.

And I think that's what we have to remember.

Just like you I've spent a load of money on reason and rack extensions over the years, but I'm buying less and less now.

Yes I brought suite but it made sense as the value was exceptional compared to the total cost and even though I had quite a few of the devices it was still a massive saving.

But as more people spend less and the upgrades are spread out then we should expect them to find a new revenue stream and so long as they allow me to buy and own what I want then I'm all for it,

BUT and it is a big BUT with the way it's been handled it has made me very sceptical of the intent / direction so until I can see something I want my money is staying put!

Do I want the latest synth? yes but I happy to wait even though I always get what they have made I'm much more interested in the standalone DAW before I'm ready to commit to any more purchases.

If I'm going to have to find a new DAW then I might as well just buy VST's as my rack is pretty much complete most of the extras I'm buying are vst's and the only stuff I'm missing realistically are features within the DAW, I've always stuck with Reason as I love the whole system but I do need a few things to be improved much sooner than I need a new synth.....

Yeah this synth is a bit of a one off for me, I'm sorted for instruments, effects, utilities and sounds, have been for a long time like many others which just makes the drip feeding of upgrading the DAW itself SUCK a lot more.

It's a money man's world I suppose.

I've chosen to Reason+ trial, selected 'annual sub' as option from here https://www.reasonstudios.com/plus/subscriber/

This shows 'Will change to Reason+ Annual Subscription ($99.50/year) on 2021-03-29'. However, when I go to 'manage subscription' I see;



I thought existing users automatically got the 50% annual discount?! Why have I not got this? (hovering over the 'cancel subscription' button circa March 28th 2021!!).

Hi there, apologies for the confusion here. This is because the discount coupon is applied at the time of the transaction, not before. We show you the right price on our page (99.50) which you pointed out, but on the manage subscription page, it shows 199 because the discount code hasn't technically been applied to the next invoice yet.

So rest assured, you will only be billed 99.50 if you choose to go for it.

There is no glitch or bug or anything going on with your account, it's just a quirk of how the coupon system works in our subscription management platform. That said, we are working to reduce the confusion here by seeing if we can "pre-apply" the coupon to the next invoice amount before the transaction.

Now I sit here on sunday afternoon being unable to work on my music created with R+.

I think the main pull for me to upgrade from 10 to 11 was the sweet suite deal, if it wasn't for that I could have quite happily not bothered.

RRP looks interesting but actually doesn't work for me using Odesi.

Reason still is dope as can be i use 90% rack which i wanted from day 1 .. in out of line and negative for the + subscription but will support any new licenses release.. until they either get a download key for subscription im going to pass on $20 a month for a few extras.. now let's make a bug thread since there is a subscription. Until then this thread should pass... love reason 11 suite lol.

And, yes, the post-trial flows leave a little to be desired and we're working on trying to make those smoother and better all the time. Besides PayPal, is there anything else in particular you think we should focus on here in this flow?

And, just so I understand and am not missing a key piece of information here, is the reason you cannot work on this music because you don't own a Reason 11 license and own an older version of Reason? If so, isn't this the same experience as the 30 day Reason 11 trial we had on the website before Reason+?

I could not work on my latest noise because my R11 Suite license does not cover the modules I used from R+ (i.e. Algoritm and Pattern Mutator). It is that easy. I just payed with my credit card (never did this before on the internet and hopefully I don´t have to in future) because I don´t want to wait any longer. The coupon hint was very helpful. So, my case is solved.
