Shortcuts for switching Tracks/Instruments?

I ever struggled with selecting the instrument i want to play with my mouse or trackpad. This is a small issue but it influences the creative workflow in a negative way. Do you know some way to switch between the instruments and/or tracks with shortcuts?
The best workflow that i could imagine (as i am using the same gear most of the time) would be if i could assign the synths in the rack one by one, or even better the channels in the mixer to numbers 1-9 on my keyboard. So if i press 4, the synth on mixer channel 4 would be active, similar the way using a hardware workstation.

Any tipp is appreciated!!

PS: i know that i can use the arrow up/down keys to switch the tracks in the sequencer window. But i also have to focus this section first.
