So, I'm just trying Reason for the first time and downloaded the Reason 11 trial.

I downloaded and installed it about two days ago.
Since installing, I haven't been able to get Reason to actually start.

The first time I try opening the app, I get this error. (screenshot attached)
"Cannot install template songs
Cannot write template songs to your music folder.
Make sure your music folder is correctly set up. No template songs will be available in this session."

After clicking OK, I get a 2nd message:
"Unknown exception."
And then reason doesn't start.

The only other similar post I could find on the internet was this one:
viewtopic.php?t=7496604
But there was no fix listed.

Can anyone help?

I am pretty much having the exact same issue, except for me, i simply hadn't opened Reason in several months.
Upon opening however i get the exact same error message as you:

Code: Select all

Cannot install template songs
Cannot write template songs to your music folder.
Make sure your music folder is correctly set up. No template songs will be available in this session.
Then after clicking OK i get the same second error:

Code: Select all

Unknown exception
clicking OK closes that window and then.... nada.... nothing

The OP (lvl50pikachu) literally made one post here almost 2 years ago and disappeared, so I'm reluctantly approving this post. Good luck with your issue!

You could try to clear all Reason related settings under the hidden AppData folder in your user account.
