Weirdness with the spectrum monitor

A drummer I'm working with sent me some recorded acoustic drum tracks. I think he used Garage Band, or maybe Reaper.
All the tracks play just fine concerning audio.
When monitoring the snare track, it won't show any activity in the Spectrum EQ window.
So I tried soloing it, moving the clip to another track, Re-importing the audio, I created a new track and re-imported the audio. All this and still that track won't show any audio.

So I created a new reason song and imported the kick and snare ON THE SAME TRACK. For the kick clip the audio shows up in the Spectrum EQ, but for the snare clip still nothing on the spectrum. This is an empty song with two clips on the same track, the audio for the snare track never shows up in the EQ Spectrum no matter what. Even if I route to another track,
