Looks like the same thing they did about 2mo ago. We have a pinned thread about it. v12 won't happen this year, RS said it.

My guess is: this is a response to the slow-ish and meager updates compared to other DAWs and the desire the userbase have expressed about RS catching up on the DAW feature sets.

it's a shame that you need to own Reason 11 to be able to beta test...

New features & fixes are implemented in v11 codebase, so I imagine you need to own it already to participate. Otherwise you'd get v11 for use free of charge, which wouldn't be fair, would it?

Betas are usually time limited, so you can run v11 for a while, but then it stops. If you make songs with the beta? Well, you cannot open them in previous version, so...you have to buy a real v11 to continue to work then

Well it's of course different when you are testing the next new version (such as if this were R12), but currently they are testing updates for Reason 11.

Aside form other reasons mentioned, it's helpful to have testers who are on R11, as they are already up to speed and experienced with existing R11 features and behaviors.

I have Reason Lite 11. Is that enough to be up to speed and experienced? I feel that it could be.

They do test Lite, Intro and Standard separately, so I would guess at some point if there's features that will also make their way to Lite, they will need people to test the Lite version.
