I am ready to update to OS Mojave. However, I just saw that Reason 8 is not supported on Mojave:

I'm likely not upgrading to Reason 11 until next year, so I'm wondering if there any potential issues with running Reason 8 on an external Sierra boot drive?
Any insights greatly appreciated!

You just need a proper copy of Reason and it won't run into errors.
Also, the operating system has to be supported for whatever version.
Sweetwater & propellerhead's websites are the cheapest places to get reason, maybe KVR too.

Well, Reason 8 actually runs on Mojave if any one wonders or cares. I had set up a boot drive for Sierra, but ended up using Mavericks instead because that was the last time I could get Line 6 Toneport UX1 and Gearbox to work.
In the end, I never did install Reason 8 on the Mavericks boot as I somehow managed to get all three to work in Mojave.
So at the least, I have a backup interface again in case of a disaster. Gearbox and Toneport work in 11.
