Reason 12 release date?
The D-Bait 12's sound engine is a winner. I can't wait.

Has anyone guessed recently? I’m assuming an April announcement. And no I don’t have any insider knowledge.

Later today?

It’s still March here in the states for a few more hours
If it's announced April 1st, probably fake news...

Might be a good time for another Reason Almanac update.
We are already past the 3-version minimum of 491 days. If the Reason 11 cycle had been as short as that of Reason 9, Reason 12 would have come out 1/28/2021.
On the other hand, we are still a ways from the 3-version maximum. If this cycle is as long as Reason 10's, Reason 12 would come out 8/25/2021.
The three-version rolling average is 607 days, which would equate to 5/24/2021. With a 30-day public beta period, that would mean an announcement in late April – so I would say that guess is right on track.

Why would they announce it (no offence) in April and then not Beta Test till a month later?
My guess as I've already said earlier in this thread, is if there's no .4 or .5 then an announced will be later this month (or early May) and the beta testing stage will commence immediately with that lasting 4 or 5 weeks before release.

That's why I said public beta. There could be some internal, alpha and closed beta run during that time or is running already. IDK, those are just my blind shots into the void You could be right though.Creativemind wrote: ↑01 Apr 2021Why would they announce it (no offence) in April and then not Beta Test till a month later?

I don’t think they usually do public beta testing (then again, I haven’t had my coffee yet, so I could be forgetting). they have a history of announcing about 30 days prior to release, and presumably the time in between is for closed beta testing. if they announced in April, we’d likely see release in May. if they announce in the next couple of months, I’d be baffled if they held off on releasing until late summer.lowtom wrote: ↑01 Apr 2021That's why I said public beta. I don't WANT it to be advanced as its peers though. I left Cubase because it became SUCH an overwhelming piece of complex software, that it was unusable (and crashed if I ever dared to look at it wrong).EnochLight wrote: ↑31 Mar 2021Basic? Nah, it's quite competent. Totally agree it will never be as advanced as its peers, though.
Keep It Simple, Stupid!
there’s a vast chasm between simple to use (Reason is), and outright missing very basic functionality (Reason does).
If they are doing a major overhaul of the DAW I don't want them to rush it. If they were to do a major overhaul it wouldn't make sense to do a lot of development for new features in the legacy code base. As far as I know they don't have hundreds of programmers working on the core DAW product. Working in an environment where we have meetings for meeting for meetings where one addition or change could could cause issues. Endless rounds of testing Q & A sessions. I hope R12 is Epic and is released when it is almost absolutely ready.

After the last few updates, can't say the beta programme is anything at all. Literally just bugs finding.
Any new feature or device will first go to those with a YouTube following, so that they can make a video about it shortly after the release.

So what do people here think the percentage is of Reason Studio's adding scalability with this Hi-Res in 12, I think about a 30% probability lol!

I think after including those Easter eggs in that Goodie Bag, they almost have to include it in the next major update. It sounds like it a difficult task, so maybe they will postpone 12 and instead release 11.5 - addressing minor but important workflow enhancements.Creativemind wrote: ↑01 Apr 2021So what do people here think the percentage is of Reason Studio's adding scalability with this Hi-Res in 12, I think about a 30% probability lol!
Also I imagine a scale at 50%, 100% and 150% could be feaisble. But scaling like changing the aspect ratio (as found in some vector based VST) probably won't work in Reasons environment. Stretched bitmaps will look awful

Not bad! My thinking is because the 50% off Reason+ offer for current users ends this month on the 27th. That to me sounds like a launch is happening, otherwise why the cutoff?fieldframe wrote: ↑31 Mar 2021Might be a good time for another Reason Almanac update.

Maybe higher. We did get the teaser images in December. But seeing as their upgrade process will clearly be a little different, I think that’s a sure thing to happen this year, even if not at launch.Creativemind wrote: ↑01 Apr 2021So what do people here think the percentage is of Reason Studio's adding scalability with this Hi-Res in 12, I think about a 30% probability lol!
I seriously doubt the hi res change would ship without custom scalability. complaining about the lack of features is one thing, but when RS give us features, they’re generally really well thought out. if they just gave us a fixed zoom option, I’d be super surprised.
You mean a complete free zoom? Like 1.1234 zoomfactor? Not sure this would work. AFAIR the images in the RE are rendered in different resolutions and this would need to scale them which normally results in blurred images or images with artefacts. But maybe i get surprised.

Crossfading Audio - No vertical alligment and only 1 curve type and only one curve type and no drawable curves in the automation. Sorry but that's not well thought out. If you mean they design well what they do give us, such as a very good transient detection and stretch of those transients in Slice Edit and stuff like that then yeah.
Does anybody else here think all this speculation going back and forth on here about what might be coming when nobody really knows, is quite a bad way of Reason Studio's going about things? all this because they never tell us anything.
