This will be interesting.
I know some people might argue that some of these options are sample based instruments rather than "real" synths. But I've picked those that I consider synths. Deal with it.

Also feel free to talk about why it's your favorite.

I was torn between Europa and Complex1 but chose Complex because I have other wavetable synths I use happily but Complex is my favourite virtual modular.

You can select 2 synths if you want.Jackjackdaw wrote: ↑14 Mar 2020I was torn between Europa and Complex1 but chose Complex because I have other wavetable synths I use happily but Complex is my favourite virtual modular.
I chose Grain because it really is't a synth. It's a sampler. Which is what I was after and it's a power house. Satisfied.

I picked Scenic. I know it doesn't get much love but I like it. It's quick and simple to work with. Also it has brought a new element into my music that my other synths can't give me.

Thor, although most of the time I’m using it for its routing and modulation.

I voted for Europa and Parsec. I love Europa, in particular because of the Karplus-Strong waveform (or wavetable?). I'm into physical modeling, and Karplus-Strong is where it's at for plucky strings, and percussion and just organic lively sounds. I love having the Modifiers, the Spectral Filter, and the Harmonics section. It all works toward creating such vibrant cool sounds. Also, the GUI is easy on the eyes (imo), and straightforward.
Second for me is Parsec. I like that you can draw in the Modifiers controlling the X and Y axis simultaneously. I love the crystal clear sounding bells and pitched percussion. I know it's additive synthesis, but it sounds very organic and physical modeling-ish to me. The color palette of the GUI, and the central balance knob for engines A and B remind me of Scenic (which I don't have - didn't upgrade to Reason 11).
BTW Tritone, you didn't give your second favorite Reason synth. Scenic, and what else?

I picked Parsec as my second RS synth, mainly because it offers something different, has lots of character and isn't overly cluttered. But to be honest there are plenty of other non RE synths that have gotten much more attention from me. I try to shift between my synths as much as possible to keep things fresh. And after the upgrade I've focused on all the R11 Suite instruments.TheGodOfRainbows wrote: ↑15 Mar 2020BTW Tritone, you didn't give your second favorite Reason synth. Scenic, and what else?
But I really should go back and revisit Parsec and use it a lot more than I have. After all I wrote imo one of my more unique sounding tracks using Parsec a couple of years ago.
Had to vote Complex-1!
The sounds it's capable of are unmatched by any other synth I've used!

Parsec and Grain.
Parsec because of really cosmic sounds I can get with harmonic set stretching. Grain because I finally have been able to properly mangle my recorded samples with it (is it a sampler then?).
