Why does cursor not return to left marker?

I'm used to using the numeral 1 to return the cursor to left marker.
For some reason this function stopped working and I have to manually rewind.
I've never had this happen before so am confused.
Any help would be appreciated

Just a thought. Could you have accidentally turned off the NumPad on your keyboard?
