Possibly stupid question.

I currently have Reason 10 Lite so am eligible for the Reason 11 upgrade. Once I own this license, can I download, install and run Reason 10 instead? I'm asking because I'd like to be able to fall back on Rewire to use with Logic until the AU version of the Rack is working and has support from Nektar (I use a P6 controller).

I think RS should give a full 10 licence to anyone who has bought 11, precisely because of the Rewire thing.
    But, of course, they won't.

@OP. The AU plugin has just been released.

If you get a reason license you can use that license forever.
I don't know when they made the authorizer but you basically just go upwards for 130$

    xboix,

Thx! I just saw that myself so I've dl'ed the Reason 11 trial and will have 30 days to evaluate the Reason Rack.

I'd like to take advantage of the current $199 upgrade from Lite discount. I was thinking at first about Intro (and losing out on a fair amount of content) because $299 is more than I want to pay. $199 I might be willing to pay if the Rack works well enough.

As far as I am aware, owning a r10 lite means you only own that iteration

Upgrading to 11 standard only gives you access to 11 standard

I asked if there was a way to have the past versions while owning the latest versions

But unfortunately Everyone who replied to me said that you only own what you bought

“Buying a PlayStation 3 does not mean they should give you a ps2”

Is basically what people replied with

I honestly think they should allow you to own reason as a whole. So we can use older versions, this would let those who want to go old school with Reason 1/2/3/4/5.

I wish they would allow this, sure just use a empty rack and the old devices. But having the extra content makes that sooo hard

Just knowing it’s all there kinda kills it for me lol

Your best bet is to find a used copy/license transfer

And the previous r10 lite it seems.

I own a Reason 11 license (if I recall correctly it sort of auto-upgraded itself) and if I check the details I can see my upgrading history: from 4 to 5 (which I never used) to 6 then 6.5 right up to 10. And now 11. However, I'm still using r10 without any authorization issues. And this isn't anything new either: when I bought Reason 4 (full version) I got eligible for a free upgrade to Reason 5, which I never used. Eventually I had a r5 license but was still happily using r4.

This someone convinces me that the OP can use 2 versions together, but only those he actually owned.

Of course if you (OP) still have a r10 installer somewhere then it should be easy enough to simply give it a try.

As far as I'm aware, you are allowed to run any version you have or have updated from. If I log in at Reasonstudios and click on "My Account", I can go to "My Products", from which I can click through to a list of every Reason license key I've ever had. In my case, that's every version since 1.0.

That page should link to download(s) of the most current licensed version(s) you have. Here are links for the major versions:
    https://www.reasonstudios.com/download/reason11
    https://www.reasonstudios.com/download/reason10
    https://www.reasonstudios.com/download/reason9
    https://www.reasonstudios.com/download/reason8
    https://www.reasonstudios.com/download/reason7
    https://www.reasonstudios.com/download/reason6
    https://www.reasonstudios.com/download/updates_reason5
    https://www.reasonstudios.com/download/updates_reason4
    https://www.reasonstudios.com/download/updates_reason3
    https://www.reasonstudios.com/download/updates_reason2
    https://www.reasonstudios.com/download/updates_reason

I don't have the links for the lite versions, but if you have one such product in your account, you should have a link there, and could probably use it as a template to figure out the links to a corresponding older version, should you be interested.

The one on the bottom is for Reason 1, should you have a license key for that. Naturally, while anybody can download these programs, they will only work outside of demo mode with a proper license and, possibly, a compatible version of Authorizer.

While the links as such works as of today, I haven't downloaded anything from any of those pages in a long time, so I can't say if the actual downloads will work all the way back to version 1, but it did a few years ago, when I wanted to edit an old Reason file, while keeping it compatible with the version it was originally composed for.

Really old versions may not work on current OS versions and while you can have multiple versions installed at once, you may only run as many, at once, as you have licenses for, so were I to start two versions simultaneously, I might get into licensing trouble, as I only have ONE Reason license, even though I have a bunch on license KEYS, for the various versions of Reason I can use that single license with.
