Hello
Reason files exported to .wav sound a little duller to me than when played from within Reason. I use the default export settings - 44,100Hz, 16 bit, dithered. Should I play around with these settings or is it a mastering issue?

I have noticed this as well if I bounce to a lower sample rate than the project. I started using 48,000 / 24 bit for all my projects and samples , bounces and had no problems since.
What program are you using to play the exported files? It's possible that it has its own volume control, and isn't playing at the full level.
Try starting a new Reason project and importing the exported wave into it, and playing from there. (Or look for a volume control in your player software.)

I second this advice. I've used 44.1 kHz forever with absolutely no problems with sound quality. In the past when ever folks mention an export not sounding like the original, it's one of two things. Either they're exporting at a lower sample rate and one or more instruments don't sound the same at different sample rates (not Reason's fault), or they are listening to playback in a way that causes the problem (thus ScuzzyEye's suggestion above). Good luck, it's probably a simple fix either way.ScuzzyEye wrote: ↑20 Nov 2019What program are you using to play the exported files? The reason why it sounds duller is because your media player is set to a lower volume. Set volume on both the media player and reason to the same lvl and you will hear no difference

Just wondering: why do you dither and render at 16? I literally see no reason for doing any of that unless you are rendering a master that will be on an audio CD.

I render ALL masters at 16 bit because to date I've never needed more than 96 dB dynamic range on final masters.PhillipOrdonez wrote: ↑20 Nov 2019Just wondering: why do you dither and render at 16?
