the words "dead product" is not the same as referring to a product as "dead".
IE "My Reason Balance is dead" ---> 100% of the time refers to malfunction.
"Reason Balance is dead" ---> is actually a vague statement in english, it could mean many things. From being ( most likely to be understood as "unpopular" ) to "eol" .... is just not that accurate a statement as you seem to think it is.
This is precisely how I feel. I was stupid enough to buy their way overpriced audio interface (that turned out to be a bit garbage) because.. well.. I guess I was once a bit of a fanboy, but this latest news of the company simply disabling the ability to use it as an authorization method, is just another of a growing list of dick moves over the past few years that compel me more than ever to stop paying for ANYTHING that comes out of the propellerhead store in future. They can shove their updates up their ass.
its like they went out of their way to disable it AND for seemingly no good reason.Proboscis wrote: ↑29 Oct 2019This is precisely how I feel. but as far as it being garbage. No way. I love this thing. its partly why I'm so annoyed.

It was my favorite audio interface. I’ve got an RME Babyface Pro now, and even though its drivers and low latency blow Balance out of the water, I still preferred Balance’s design, inputs/outputs, etc. All it needed was MIDI I/o and audio loop back and it would have been the perfect 2-channel audio interface, IMHO.

I also have other interfaces ( Scarlette 18i20 + OctoPre ) and they work great. BUT for simplicity and portability Balance is great. Which I have setup on my pc..... If I'm just recording a single synth its perfect, and sometimes I would do this.
So... Balance is not dead, right?
Because... it's still working. Still makes noises.
What's dead is its "friendship" relation with Authorizer that, suddenly is saying "I don't know this horse. It's 'dead to me'" which is kinda harsh on the Authorizer's part and is making Balance quite sad. ...and to be sad, you can't be dead
Reason Studios have been saying "Balance? It's dead to us" which doesn't mean it's actually dead. It's just "dead" for them
Now, through the magic of software updating, that feeling was made oficial, unilaterally, even though Balance (the pour thing) still thinks it's a Propellerhead product and it's still trying to be a nice product.
I'm not the one explaining it that it's been abandoned

He's using the word "dead" in a condescending way. Like "are you still using that stupid, ancient, well DEAD product?". Anything to stay in the favor of the Reason gods.submonsterz wrote: ↑29 Oct 2019In English we just wouldn't use the term "dead" like that in nearly all to most cases.

That is factually wrong, so please stop. There’s no need to gaslight anyone here, OK?fullforce wrote: ↑30 Oct 2019He's using the word "dead" in a condescending way. It's so depressing to realize that all 3 of us are old enough to understand these references - and remember these skits.Koshdukai wrote: ↑30 Oct 2019So Authorizer is actually a lumberjack.

Don't feel bad, the parrot died a long time ago. Just like Balance.

Horse Rotorvator is a fantastic album, BTW. Ostia (The Death of Pasolini) is a track I'd love to cover and release, but their label wouldn't work anything out with me.

Really now. Mine still works. But not as an authorizer, which should be easy peasy to fix. But they will not do it. Maybe because it doesn't have "Reason Studios" on it? Another bridge burned, just like the forum.
In time, it might because a valuable retro item. Which is probably when PH (or RS) will dump a few thousand on the market (still in their warehouse) and fuck it up again for everyone.

I got a response from Customer Support. The Balance can not be used as an Ignition Key on Reason 11.
It's discontinued and no longer supported.

Balance was "officially unsupported" when Reason 10 released but the feature was there.
Now they removed the feature.
I can't say if Balance is "dead". But RS are "dead" to me.
Waiting for Reason 12. Who knows? Maybe they will remove Subtractor too.
If not for my perfectly working RME card back then I would've gotten Balance. I love the look.fullforce wrote: ↑31 Oct 2019Really now. Mine still works. Balance is not dead. It's a Schrödinger's cat.
