I think its time to invest in a new CPU, I'm getting snap crackle and pop now when I'm trying to run lots of VST's (espcially the Soundtoys vst's as they can't even refreh their gui unless I hit stop!).

What strikes me as being strange though, is that when my song is not playing its hitting around 28% CPU but if I simply scroll left and right on the sequencer it goes upto 50% - Is that a bit silly?

My current CPU is an Intel i7-3770 - what's the reccoemnded CPU to get - would the i7-9700k be a good shout?

Hum...i can play the latest games in 60fps on full HD...i guess there is room for performance improvements in the GUI code :-D

I have an i7-8086 and i am quite satisfied with it.

...what’s your point? I’m sure that makes the OP feel better.

I have a 4770k (no overclocking) and this can still happen to me. Some of us still complain about it but Reason also loses performance when on the web.

I'm not upgrading at this time but I'm pretty sure (@ OP) that the chip you mentioned would be a beast. Might be a silly question but are you using "high performance" for your power scheme? Sometimes that gets overlooked and it can cause issues.

Are you on a mac?
Even if not, there is something funky with Reason's GUI which not only causes CPU spikes but also causes audio glitches.
It's quite annoying indeed. On a Mac opening the app in low resolution mode is a workaround.
It's high time this was fixed properly.

Same here. Scrolling = Pops
Same if I open an internet browser. Sound goes to hell. That said, I’ve usually got Reason set at 64. Gets better at 1024 :).

+1
Scrolling in browser is the worst. But inside Reason 10.4, it's ok.
Win10, i5-4570S, 16GB RAM, GTX1060 3GB@ FullHD

So, for me it's not really an issue unless I use Reason as a media player :D

It also depends on how many bars you are using. If it's one or two this doesn't seem to happen much. 3 or 4 it's guaranteed.

I know they did some optimizing in 10.3 but it's had little to no effect on the issue here. I've sent several reports to RS/ex Props and have had no luck.

BTW, with toby chiming in this is obviously not a windows only thing.
