I need to run four windows (i.e. 4x reason projects) open at the same time so I can jump back and forth between the projects for a session preparation.
But my DSP gets totally maxed out. It seems every Reason project runs at full gas even if the project window is in the background and not playing. The preferences "Play in background" on or off makes no difference to my DSP load.
1. Is there a solution to this?
2. Does all DAWs behave like this, or are there DAWs that off load DSP when in the background and not playing?
Multiple open windows - kills DSP - any solution?

Can't think of a solution, this is a Reason specific problem AFAIK. I'd put the project files on a SSD and try to limit the amount of open projects (2-3 might be doable).
I've had this problem in the past with heavy audio and DSP projects... so I usually don't have more than one project open at a time.

I used to make music but now I just cry on these forums. @diippii.com
