Wanting to get a USB ignition key, just want some clarification

First, the Version says "Released: 2009-08-27" which is just a month and ten days from being entire decade ago. Not much has changed in the way of compatability since then? Everything should work still?

I have a laptop I want to authorize for offline use, but it's currently taken by my main desktop. So I want to keep the USB plugged into the back of my PC and just leave it there, then transfer the offline use to my laptop. That's how it works, right?

I got mine when I bought Reason 5+Record Duo, and it still works, so you should be fine.

Yes, this is how I run mine. I have the desktop with the ignition key, and the laptop setup for offline use. It works great.

I use Balance as my Ignition Key. Have an extra stick which I got with Record. I back up my licenses in that one periodically just in case. Before I had Balance I had the stick as a permanent fixture on my stationary PC so no problems there .

yep. also got mine with when i bought Reason+Record Bundle then. No Problems with the Ignition Key, running smooth. The Only Problem i got recently is: Pheads website not writing Licences correctly (REs kept asking for internet connection) on the Key. After a "Sync All" the Problems were gone.

So where would the protection be in that? That’s the whole point of a having a “dongle”.

Yeah it works. I occasionally have problems when updating licences on the website, but it works well usually. It's useful to have an Ignition Key if you usually use a desktop computer and want to take a laptop out for a gig or something. You don't always have internet access on the go, so the Ignition Key is still useful.

Alright so I was about to buy one off propellerheads site but then was hit with 20-40 dollar shipping charges....
Is it a good idea to buy one off amazon? Nothing wrong with that?
