My Reason scratch disk folder is nearly 40GB in content. Is it safe to delete this?

Yes, however; any projects that were referring to data in that folder will take slightly longer to open (until it can rebuild the cache).BananaSkins wrote: ↑17 May 2019My Reason scratch disk folder is nearly 40GB in content. Is it safe to delete this?

Thanks for the replies. (40GB back )
Nice - I also deleted the contents of the logs folder successfully; this contained (6.5GB).
found here: AppData\Roaming\Propellerhead Software\Reason\logs

Yikes! There should probably be a little function inside of Reason to clean up stuff like this, to make it easy.

But why? In this day and age, 40 GB is literally nothing. The cache won’t grow any larger (it’s capped), so nobody really need to worry about deleting it. Ever.Boombastix wrote: ↑18 May 2019Yikes! A single 1080p Blu-ray movie can be larger than this entire cache.

Not just laptops. Many desktops are now configured with a relatively small SSD for the OS and apps and then one or two huge hard disks for data. The default location for the Reason scratch disk on Windows is on the C drive so will be using precious SSD space. Most users will not even know it is there!Boombastix wrote: ↑19 May 2019Lot's of people use laptops and maybe an SSD with 256Gb, 40Gb is a lot then...

Peferences / advanced / Scratch disk folder (You can change it or reset it here)
What is a "scratch disk folder"?
(this is the folder were reason will temporarily save data); preferably on your fastest hard drive (get an ssd if you can!) - Set up the new "scratch disk folder' where you want.
Thanks, I know about the advanced tab and such but that doesn't give the current name or location of the existing scratch disk, like your example (( AppData\Roaming\Propellerhead Software\Reason\logs) for deleting the logs). I just want to delete the temporary files, some probably going back to 2012 when my Asus rog was new. Thanks again for your trouble.
it said 3 gb... I deleted it and 10 gb became free... scratches head

open terminal:
cd ~/Library/Caches
then to get the folder size:
du -sh Reason/
To remove it, make sure Reason is closed.. then:
rm -Rf ~/Library/Caches/Reason/

Thanks. So it’s in the library. Could I just go through the file system instead of using terminal?

I looked and looked but could not find it ... ended up using terminal to do it... it must be hidden somehow??? not sure.
