Benchmark Test between 10.2 and the upcoming 10.3
Benchmark test:
Reason 10.2. played this a tad more than 20 seconds with a buffer 2048
Reason 10.3 played the same Reason file to the 1:28 and it still woulda play it even further, but the benchmark file ended, before it prompted a "too slow message".
Conclusion: The upcoming Reason 10.3. will be a massive success, because of it's CPU optimisation.
Congrats Propellerheads team, this is a really great news!

Yes, it was the same buffer in there too. Also, the benchmark didn't have any VSTs involved so.. the performance is high even if there's no VSTs in the project at all.

which benchmark testfile did you use?
This:
http://www.reflexion-x.com/downloads/R8 ... 0Hz.reason
It's a file that was posted here on the ReasonTalk, when Reason 8 dropped.
i'm so confused. people keep reporting these massive performance gains but i'm getting virtually identical performance from the beta and non-beta versions. are some people already testing the non-logging beta? are the people reporting huge performance gains all Mac users? someone please catch me up to date.

I got to 35 seconds on 10.2 (even using 1024 samples)
On 10.3 it started to glitch around a little over 1 minute (using 2048 samples latency)
Kinda weird. I get better performance that you on the 10.2 version but worse performance on 10.3
OSX 10.14

Yes, you should check the beta page...two shoes wrote: ↑05 Apr 2019i'm so confused. people keep reporting these massive performance gains but i'm getting virtually identical performance from the beta and non-beta versions. are some people already testing the non-logging beta? are the people reporting huge performance gains all Mac users? someone please catch me up to date.
I don't know why, what are your CPU & Model and Memory specs then?Marco Raaphorst wrote: ↑05 Apr 2019I got to 35 seconds on 10.2 (even using 1024 samples)

That’s a quad as well right? Faster cpu.
It's a Quad and 3 hyper-threadings, whatsoever if it matters that much of.
Thank you thank you thank you for this encouraging news. Damn I am SOOO excited to see this upgrade on my base model iMac Pro. Reason runs a little slow for me when I get to higher audio track count (18-20 tracks)
'Will this upgrade work with OSX LION for my other computer a 2013 MacBook Pro ?

I'd comment on this here, but due to the NDA, I'll just say this: check the beta forum.
Win 10 | Ableton Live 11 Suite | Reason 12 | i7 3770k @ 3.5 Ghz | 16 GB RAM | RME Babyface Pro | Akai MPC Live 2 & Akai Force | Roland System 8, MX1, TB3 | Dreadbox Typhon | Korg Minilogue XD
Hey, lets say that a certain song uses half of the CPU. Could the other half, that is free still, create a playback for the later playback. In a nutshell, could the free CPU cycles do something while being free?
I can't imagine anyone's gonna get to worked up over the NDA on this one. It's not like there's any big secrets about it all. They've optimised Reason. They told us exactly what they were going to do and they did it. Perhaps better than we expected but still, it's hardly black opsEnochLight wrote: ↑05 Apr 2019I'd comment on this here, but due to the NDA, I'll just say this: check the beta forum.

Perhaps, but it's also a professional courtesy to Propellerhead, and as I agreed to the NDA to test, I prefer to honor it. That said, my comment wasn't towards people discussing their performance results and comparison - that's clearly a very public fact that everyone knows about.plaamook wrote: ↑05 Apr 2019I can't imagine anyone's gonna get to worked up over the NDA on this one. I thought about the NDA, before posting this. Sorry, if I violated the NDA. I just was so surprised how much more the new Reason was capable in a CPU wise.
No longer an issue, now that the non-logging version is out they're ok with sharing info. For those in the beta it's mentioned in the general information. I'd recommend not sharing any bugs you may run into, but performance data is definitely fine.plaamook wrote: ↑05 Apr 2019I can't imagine anyone's gonna get to worked up over the NDA on this one. Well, if anything this only confirms people complaining about Reason getting (much) slower after VSTs were added (even without using plugins, just native+REs) were right all along. Not that I would know, having started with 10...
Can't wait to get home and see it for myself - just got the acceptance e-mail today
Looks like there will be little reasons to stay on 9.5 or lower. Good job PH.
