Your small outboard gear wishlist?
Really keen to know what outboard gear you guys would get if you could only afford a few things, or perhaps already have.
Any opinions on the benefits of actual outboard gear compared to working in software?
Is it better or more useful for mastering?
Go ahead and make a full wishlist if you like, interested to see what comes up and any opinions you guys have on it all.
Cheers!

Lately I'm finding that rather than hardware vs. software its about what inspires vs what doesn't (and what is the most fun).
For example, I bought and sold a Tascam digital multitrack as I found it more cumbersome than a computer for recording. However, the Yamaha Reface CS I have is totally inspiring me due to the immediacy of creating sounds. It is, of course, totally software based under the hood and way less functional than most RE synths, yet it inspires me.
I am planning on purchasing some novelty external effects, likely a phaser, analogue delay, and a spring reverb.
As far as proper outboard gear like compressors, equalizers etc. I'll probably just stick to "in the box". At my level of knowledge and expertise such outboard equipment would be a waste of money. I am happy to get "demo" quality results as opposed to trying to create a modern radio-ready production in my basement.

This, all day long. I’ve got a Microbrute which I run through a little reverb pedal, and a Volca Sample. I’ve also got my eye on a Behringer Deepmind 6, and I Intend to use my phone with a MIDI interface as the clock to keep everything synced. I can then use all this outboard equipment to jam and come up with idea to then build on in Reason.
Deepmind 6 is on my wishlist
Just MIDI controllers. I like to keep everything ITB.
currently doing a little ditty with the drumbrute neutron and volca fm with all the mixing and triggering done in reason wired my akai midi controller to the rpg arp and the fm to the matrix and lfo the drum brute sequencer is the drumbrutes seems more real yet a piece of software on the screen also elevates best of both worlds is what i think ive got with the software synths being added emergency sound reserve and reasons sequencer or a handy camera for recording
Reason 12 ,gear4 music sdp3 stage piano .nektar gxp 88,behringer umc1800 .line6 spider4 30
hear scince reason 2.5
hear scince reason 2.5
The new Icon platform Nano
I am using the single plug one with a Roland EV-5 and it works very well. Got it in January and have not used it that much, but it does what it says and has a cool software/vst that works well with reason.
I made a thread about this a little while ago: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7510127

Volca Modular, Volca Drum, and an eight channel interface for recording all my Volcas at once That'd be nice!
Thanks for your input everyone!
Very wise and thoughtful answer, many thanks6502 wrote: ↑16 Feb 2019Lately I'm finding that rather than hardware vs. software its about what inspires vs what doesn't (and what is the most fun).
