We just released a new version of rsTouch Pro (2.9.6) that adds support for Propellerhead’s recent Rack Extensions and the Quad Note Generator Player. rsTouch Pro now supports 166 devices, Rack Extensions, Players, and VSTs. You can view a current list of supported devices here: rsTouch Pro Features.

New Propellerhead Devices:
  • Complex-1
  • Umpf Club Drums
  • Umpf Retro Beats
  • Reason Electric Bass
  • Quad Note Generator
Propellerhead provides Complex-1 with a robust Remote implementation, including a way to patch the various modules. It is a joy to patch and tweak Complex-1 without having to use your mouse!

Likewise, Quad Note Generator’s Remote implementation is fairly complete, though it does suffer the same odd RUN button behavior as Drum Sequencer. rsTouch uses the same work around for Quad Note Generator so that you can run and stop the player, but the button does not light to show the current run state.

The two Umpf Rack Extensions are a bit of a mixed bag. The Remote implementations offer deep editing but there are some glaring omissions, and some odd behaviors. The most problematic are how LFO and delay tempo-synced time parameters are handled. Umpf does not provide remote control of, or feedback from, the SYNC mode buttons. So you have to manually set these button using the Reason GUI and rsTouch’s panel in order control the LFO rates or delay times. Umpf’s Remote implementation also lacks many of the effects parameters, including any control over the reverb effect.

Reason Electric Bass pretty much works as expected.

rsTouch Pro 2.9.6 requires new Reason support files (codec and maps) that must be installed. The most recent rsTouch Pro support files are available from rsTouch Codec Installer. Download the installer to your Mac or PC, quit Reason (if it is running), then run the installer. If you do not update the support files on your computer then rsTouch will show a warning message.

rsTouch Pro offers full control of Reason’s Mixer and transport functions. Record and mix songs, plus make sound setting and level adjustments easily with large, multi-touch, color-coded rotaries and faders.  Edit send effects, insert parameters, and EQ settings, as well as adjust channel, pan and dynamics levels.  A dedicated Master screen allows full adjustments of Reason's Main Mixer Master section.  The Device page provides a gateway to controlling 166 Reason instruments, effects, Rack Extensions and VSTs, offering customized screens optimized for iPad use. A Performance page provides convenient keyboard, drum pad layouts, and 8 x 8 pad grid to play and record Reason synths and drum machines, or a page of 34 freely assignable fader, rotaries, and buttons that can be used to provide additional customized hands-on control.

For additional information see rsTouch Pro

If you have any trouble with the update, or uncover what you believe is a bug, please reach out to us at our support email (support AT delora DOT com).

If you have any general questions or comments I would be happy to answer them in this thread.
