Scroll Patches

I think this is probably an easy thing to do but I don't know how...so it's not easy for me. When I click on the patch window on an instrument or an effect a menu comes up with a load of different patches (not the browser but over the patch window) with a little arrow to move up or down. I need to press the arrows to move through the list. No big deal really but is there any way to scroll through them with my mouse wheel or some other way? Even when I hold on the arrows it doesn't scroll and I need to click and click to move through the list. Thanks for any help.

a little bit not the topic but i think to remember back in early days you got preview instrumebt patches just by scroll up down in finder window. it was the best! no?
