hey, i just converted a new room to a studio and here is a way i made virtually free bass traps for the corners, which work really really well:
basically took a 1x2x8 and stapled a blanket to it, like a piece of fabric on a spool. rolled er up. added another blanket. rolled er up. took my roll of down comforters (20 bucks at goodwill) and put them up against the wall, with rope every foot holding it together. added wood corssbars to hold it up, and made a fabric panel to cover it so it looks more like a triangle and less like a rounded triangular blob.

the difference is as good as any "real" bass traps i have used in a non-scientific ear test.

wanted to share this idea in case anyone was damping their studio on the cheap as well.

not responsible if this is not up to fire code.
