Hi gang I’m sure it’s easy to do but for the life of me I can’t work it out
I imported a audio sample on a audio track “ wav format” and I like to do some real-time editing
1. if I go to the mixer and press record after I have highlighted the channel fader green to move the fader up and down in volume it doesn’t do the edit after I have a stopped record
2. If I do the editing say in the sequencer track and press record it simply records over the wav format and that’s not what I want at all
My head is telling me I need to do a sequencer track for the wav format but I can’t seem to find it if it is a option?
I though I ask because I’m having a right brain freeze over this

Right Click your chosen mixer knob / dial / slider etc and click 'Edit Automation' an automation lane will now be created for that parameter.
Press record and adjust your mixer knobs / dials / sliders etc
Your new automation lane will now contain this recorded automated data.

There are two "record" buttons for tracks in the sequencer. The main button is to record audio or MIDI. The secondary button is for automation (note the icon's graphics). It's a little clunky, but you can get used to it!
Here's what it looks like for a Note Track in the sequencer, with BOTH buttons armed in this example:
