So as the tittle says
What midrange 5-600 EUR. USB interf. would u recommend?

Im getting tired of my Focusrite 2i2 2nd gen as i get a lot of buffer issues lately in reason, and its gotten to the point, where it is a hell to browse samples because sounds outside reason is glitchy whenever i run reason.

Thanks in advance :-)

I read about Behringer interface are quite good in price/value tag. Maybe some other with more experience will chime in.

DAW/iOS? Recording... RME BabyFace PRO. ... pppppPre-amps are not Created Equal. $750. HIGH END.
Ask EnochLight.

Live Recording... Field... no computer/computer free (no hummm, like i like it) ? Zoom H6... $300

Look into them.

I've been looking for a new one to replace my Balance. What I found around that price was Audient i44 or one of the Focusrite Clarett series.

The i44 looks pretty nice but requires some desktop space, previous ones have had good reviews.

RME is where I'd look.

Sorry for the lack on info and thanks for your inputs!

Im mostly on windows 10, pc but sometimes on a MacBook too.

Rme Babyface pro looks so beautiful, any known issues with windows 10 and reason?
Also been looking at Universal Audio Arrow, thoughts?
:-)

I own a RME fireface UC and Audient ID14, in comparison audient hasn´t the loudest output but it can keep up with RME in sound comparison and more or less the driver performance are quiet as good since this year. I think the preamps from audient are the best you could get under 500€ i have heared. Therefore the fireface totalmix iss awesome and gives much flexibility in routing, also the RME Preamps have a realy low self noise without saturtion like audient (some mics sounds better with this, other with that, so both showing a dedicated channel strip isn´t needed), and it has more compatible instruments inputs, like audients JFET D.I instrument input how are not so Ohm susceptible , also is has no direct mointoring option. Yeah i would say these intefaces are the biggest bang for the bug. RME has also 192khz vs 96khz Audient. I think for electronic and classic music RME is the better choice, for singer songwriters the audient is more we hoped for several years before ;) Yeah Babyface iss the best usb powered interface you could buy.

I highly recommend the M-Audio M-Track Eight.

I previously owned Focusrite 18i20 and wasn't happy with the performance, despite it being awesome on paper.

No performance issues with the M-Track Eight. Been running it almost daily at highest settings. Highly recommend.

I just hooked up a Tascam 2x2 and have been running a bass into it all morning using Alligator and Pulverisor and a few others. I am impressed with the sound quality.

wow - very interesting thread. I'm shocked. I was just thinking about the 18i20. Looks like RME, M-Audio, and Behringer are mentioned favorably here. Any more input about lowest-possible-latency is welcome. I have an old Toneport UX2 and a Mackie Onyx Blackjack - both are ok.

Also, there was a problem after initial driver/mixer install. The two links that were created for Settings Panel and Software mixer both opened the Settings panel and I could not find an exe to open the Tascam Mixer. When I opened Reason and tried to set the audio driver it would lock up. I was going to download Cubase LE to see if I could get it working but found another Software Mixer download link on the Tascam site with more recent date. I installed it and at that point was able to open both Settings Panel and Mixer, set audio preferences in Reason and record.

I just bought Presonus Studio 18-24. Have yet to install it. But really nice specs for $500.
https://www.presonus.com/products/Studio-1824
It can also do CV out for analog or Eurorack, 8 outputs! Few can do DC outputs at sufficient voltage but this one can.
It also allows me to add some HW via SPDIF.
The free plugins are really nice too.
Comes with Studio 1 v4 Artist too, it can do Rewire+VST for an extra $79.
Direct, 0-latency, monitor mixes.
Audio loopback (record sounds from Windows into the DAW).

They have the same line of new interfaces with fewer inputs at lower cost, but I figured that adding 8 CV outputs as a Eurorack module at $300 was not cost efficient if I can get the 18-24 for $500.

Crossing my fingers it will work fine with Reason 10.

Since I sold (and gave away) most of my outboard hardware I went with the RME Digiface USB. Windows 10 Pro. 100% stable. Behringer makes a wonderful (and cheap) AD/DA that will complement my RME if I ever buy outboard gear again in the future. I own a Multiface I Bought in 2003.
If you have a laptop/iPad and you want to be mobile the Babyface is the way to go imho.
