external midi instrument offline

well ive got reason hooked up into a volca drum machine and the midi port assigned says MME MIDIOUT{USBA}10 {OFFLINE} pardon the wrong brackets. Ive no idea about how to fix the" offline" statement and thats all that needs fixing, anybody out there with superier knowledge advice needed
the volca bass and keys are running nicely on 1 channel eatch the drums are going to take 16 channels i believe.
