I'm doing a ton of recording audio with Reason. I end up using the NumPad 3 hotkey to create new audio tracks on the sequencer to dub or punch in or what-have-you, on the fly... However, whenever I create a new audio track on the sequencer, it creates an additional channel on the main mixer. This very quickly results in many, many mixer channels - one for each new audio track on the sequencer.

I'm wondering, is there a way to create multiple audio tracks on the sequencer that can be controlled by the same mixer channel? I don't mind having a stupid number of audio channels, but I think it's cutting into my system resources, and it would make more sense for me to have just one channel responsible for outputting multiple "note lanes" of audio. I come from a ProTools background, but Reason is my first love <3

Cheers

I don’t think there’s a way to have an audio track set up without a corresponding mixer channel, but you can select all your similar channels and route them to a new bus channel, and add your other processing to that. after selecting them, right click on one and choose ‘New Output Bus’, I think.

I don’t think just having the basic SSL mixer channels for however many tracks you’ve got should tax your CPU too much, especially if you’re not using any channel processing (EQ, compression, etc.).

Based on your description I'm not sure this is the case here, but if some of those recording are different takes of the same instrument and song part, then maybe you can use Reason's comping feature?
