Hey guys,
Long time reason user, short time lurker. I got a big issue with Europa and i was hoping for some input.
I can't get my head around phase syncing. I got this bassline that sounds really cool, but it just morphs in and out of frequencies and occasionally sounds out of phase. I want each note to sound exactly the same, not like some hot mess LFO-kerfuffle. Bottom end frequencies are also wack with random 10 dB dips, making it impossible to automate. It's all kind of subtle, but not subtle enough to let it pass as analogue warmth.
The phase sync button does nothing to improve on this. I got no LFO's or built-in effects on. I use EQ, Scream, 100% mono.
I believe it's the Karplus-Strong wave table screwing with me, but i still don't see why it won't sync the goddamn phase?
I've considered exporting each key into REX which would solve my issue, but... really? I have to do this?
Anyone?
Europa phase retrig on key

Can you share your patch please so we can take a look?

I think you're right about it being that particular wave table as well. It sounds a tad better if you don't use Engines II and III... but only by a very tiny tiny amount.
What a shame, i love that clicky wave table

I hope that Propellerhead will introduce a modifier to adjust the phase of a waveform in an update. To get very snappy Psy baselines is difficult at the moment because with a saw and retrigger turned on the, the saw starts at its zero phase and this doesn‘t sound very clicky.
As a workaround I draw a sawwave in the custom waveform with the starting phase in the middle, sounds much better.

What is the best softsynth in Reason for basslines if you wan't to avoid this? I know Expanse got some phase modifiers but it sounds like garbage with randomization at 0. Perhaps i'm just doing it wrong...

The random is the phase modifier in eXpanse for the main oscilator start.

You could try to set random phase to zero and determin the starting point from the phase shift modifier to get where you want.
The question is - Who cares
Thanks Electric-Metal, never thought of that
Off to program a new bassline then...!

With every other synth this would be the way to go, but with expanse there is the problem that there is a little fade in at the start of the waveform no matter were you set the phase.Electric-Metal wrote: ↑08 Apr 2018You could try to set random phase to zero and determin the starting point from the phase shift modifier to get where you want.

Never noticed this myself ( I rarely create patches myself, I'm more of a patch tweaker), but I will keep this in mind for future attempts. Thanks.
