I had dual monitors and I've detached and positioned my windows how I want them.
When I save it as a project and set Reason to open that project every time I start a new project,
the windows are still detached but all on one monitor.
Any help? Thanks!

If on Mac, try "Stay" https://cordlessdog.com/stay/. Window positions are actually saved with the .reason song, but Mac OS no longer puts them back across dual monitors. Stay resides in the Menu bar. Clicking on "Restore Windows" after opening your song will put everything back where it was across both monitors. It's a $15 app. I tried a lot of solutions to this OS problem and Stay worked the best for me.

When you saved your template were your windows positioned how you want them?

Assuming you are asking the OP - they said they did.
The issue is not Reason, as the window positions are still actually saved within the song file. It's the OS that is not putting the windows back across two monitors. Ever since Sierra and High SIerra, the windows don't reopen across both monitors. This use to work in Mac OS Yosemite or Mavericks.
When I click "Restore Windows" in the Stay menubar, it snaps the windows back across all monitors exactly as they were save in the Reason song file.

Here's a short video I made showing how the "Stay" app makes saved window positions in a Reason song file reopen across two monitors.:

UPDATE: Forget my recommendation on using the "Stay" app to help reopen Reason window positions back across multiple monitors. I just discovered a free solution that works in Mac OS High Sierra:
1. Open System Preferences and click on Mission Control. Checkmark "Displays have separate Spaces"
2. Right click Reason in your Dock and under Options, select Assign To "None" rather than a specific desktop.
Opening saved songs in Reason now places multiple saved windows back across both monitors. The only one that does not is my "Default" song template I have Reason open upon launch. But simply closing that after Reason opens and then clicking "New" reloads my default template across both monitors. All other saved songs now open across both monitors.

Hello,
I'm coming back to this topic because with my M1 Pro, it can't keep the screen set-up I've made on dual screen (1 screen for the mixer and 1 screen for what's left).
When I open a Reason project, it always get back to 1 screen.
Please can someone has a solution for it ? It is really annoying.
Thanks
