Propellerheads might be waking up finally. Not that it means anything yet.

This forum is for discussing Reason. Questions, answers, ideas, and opinions... all apply.

Cool Edit Pro became Adobe Audition. I wouldn't call that south. The other 2 I'd never heard of. By popular I mean Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, Ableton...etc...
I hear ya. Do check out the Muzys demo. You will be mind blown by its pattern arranger!!

I actually alpha/beta tested for Syntrillium for Cool Edit Pro 2. Went along during the Adobe acquisition and beta tested right up until Audition 3.0. Bailed when they went subscription.

I agree, never had a need for VST support, I spent years using midiloopback for the few items I needed, still do.

Plus I always enjoyed feeling like the RE arena was an exclusive 'Reason' club trade secrets thing, especially for some of the more unique REs. Which is still true, I just hope Propellerhead does what is necessary to give confidence back to RE devs.

Depends on your experience before Reason had VST support. If you’re one of the folks who never used a VST before 9.5 then sure your experience with RE could understandably turn you off from VSTs. However those who were already VST users with other DAWs or had needs that no current RE covers then it makes sense how VST can be a preference.

They do on mine. The only annoying thing I find is that (I thought) the sequencer was the main primary screen no? Sometimes when I open projects that have the screens seperated already, that it doesn't automatically go to the sequencer sometimes.
It opens to whatever the screen was when you last saved.
Ahhh that makes sense. Reason with it's unusual behavior but suppose it makes it Reason. Like the global undo's. Some of those are unnecessary in my opinion but can be helpful sometimes.

RE is a closed platform and inherently not consumer friendly.
Only one store so no price competition, the RE's won't work in another DAW etc.
I'm personally very glad VST's got added to Reason.

If for whatever reason Propellerheads ceases to exist all the hundreds of $€ you spend on RE's will be gone.
Your VST's on the other hand will be fine ;)

Price competition is determined by the developers' products, not the number of stores.

With VSTs not only in Reason but also the store, REs now directly compete with them on price.

Not sure how being closed stops it being consumer friendly??

Bad for ppl which vst devs lost their company and all those 32bit things... Man... They are so lucky. Bound to Windows or Mac only? Np for VST users... Duzens of different authorizations... Lucky vst users... And all those 1000 shops with their email spam... Lucky again....no competitions in the RE market... Man... We are doomed! And and and... Don't forget the sound quality!

These are not mutually exclusive. One could easily argue that RE's are more consumer friendly, as they can all be found in one spot, easily sycn'd to your account, and work in Reason as "native rack citizens".
Only one store so no price competition, the RE's won't work in another DAW etc.
Not even a issue, taking into consideration they're made specifically for Reason. ;)

You and me both!

Complete conjecture. For all you know, if Propellerhead ceases to exist, they could be bought by another company and everything continues to work just fine. Additionally, there are countless VST devs that disappear and become abandonware. At least with Reason, RE abandonware continues to work in every future version of Reason. ;)

Even if just to put an end to all those VST request threads ;)

Even though I've not loaded any VSTs, it is nice to have the freedom.

People don't go to forums to make music, if I wanted to make music I wouldn't be on this forum now :) I think thats especially true for music forums and yet more for this one ;)
Well, speak for yourself.

Check this out - some of us actually make music using THIS program and post it to the music forum, then come on HERE pro-ing and con-ing the F out of it because we're invested in it cuz we actually really do use it to create MUSIC!

Holy... Could people please get down from their piedestals and stop acting like they're 50% smarter than anyone else?

Why do you guys even bother discussing this over and over again? Gorgon, Psuper, change your records, PLEASE.
Hey Kenni, you might want to read this thread before you go accusing people of standing on some podium preaching. Not only have I been civil, I've been concise and respectful as always. Does that make me smarter? Why would it even matter?

Its your kind of posts that makes this stuff toxic - 5 pages of solid discussion (except Eds trolling) ruined by the kind of crap that makes other Reasoner feel its ok to shit on others. We're all having a healthy conversation and someone comes in with a chip on their shoulder and fingers pointing for no obvious reason. Mod or not, you are wrong.

And what exactly should I be discussing in a Reason General forum?
Same people. Same problems. Same bullying.

I see not much has changed :)

Bullying? Where? This place is heaven compared to the rest of the internet. A 2 hr reasontalk browsing saves me 10 days of silence and deep mediation at Vipassana.
