Whoops reason needs a smart disable switch for vsts

It's got an off switch if that's what you mean

But it's not 'smart', ie. it doesn't work by itself to turn the VST off when it's not used (doesn't receive or generate signal). I think this is what OP means.

Muting tracks in the sequencer has the same effect, yes?

I know, after I bounce to audio, the original track is muted and not using dsp.

That's the way it (should) work for RE's and stock devices, but apparently, it doesn't work correctly for VST's.

Ah. Maybe that's it? Most other daws have this option by default I believe and it seems like with reason the plugin is always on unless you just automate the switch.
Alrighty then might make use of that feature more often

Surely an automatable power off switch for VSTs would be a quick and easy hotfix?
