5 so far. It’ll be 6 or 7 in a few weeks. Not counting the 6 I finished right at the beginning of the year. I consider those to be from last year.

No songs finished but should have the last few demos done by year's end for an album I started at the end on 2016. The album will be completed in 2018 so next year i'm looking at 13-14!

I counted 22, but some of them are very short. Still counts though :D
Will probably get one or two more done before the new year.

My usual way of thinking is if I get about an hour of finished music per year then I'm pretty happy about that.

Fascinating! Just curious, how do you all pull off >20 songs a year? That’s almost 2 a month. How many hours per week do you spend on the process?

13 for me if producing for other artists counts. And if it matters whether it was released or not. As far as my own songs, just 1.

Approx 150 this year. I've completed 545 since January 2015. Mind you most of these were started way before 2015 - but in Jan 2015 to now I re-engineered my entire 37 years output in Reason @96Khz

I've written 40-something songs so far this year and have been having a very busy and productive past couple of months, so there will definitely be a few more added to that number before the month ends

So far only a handful have been released to the public, most of those being the six on PC LOVE LETTER, an EP that I wrote in a single week of frenzied, restless activity. In addition to those 6 and the 2 new songs I finished this year for Back to Saturn X, right now I'm sitting on 10 more songs for an album release, and around 15 done so far from soundtracks I'm contributing to, plus 1 for the VK-2 contest earlier this year, which adds up to 34.

Most of the remainder are probably going to sit in the vault for the foreseeable future, and maybe be cannibalized into something else later.

For me, the amount of hours spent on music making per week can vary greatly depending on how much time I have and what my discipline level is for the day.

It's easier to roughly estimate the amount of hours I spend on a track. I'd say I spend around 7-35 hours on a song depending on what type of song it is. I do prefer to work in many short spurts rather than long sessions. Sometimes I work on a track for just 20 minutes and all I do is a couple of EQ tweaks or pick a cymbal sample or something. This morning I worked on a song for 5 minutes, all I did was raise the volume on a synth. And later I today I tried to come up with some lyrics for about 20 minutes. That was all the discipline I had for today, but all these short little sessions add up and before you it know the song is finished.

Maybe 7 hours for a simple and short track like this:

And around 35 hours for a more production heavy track like this where I pay closer attention to details.

Noodling melodies on your keyboard does not count as a song.

I create 200 songs every night

Yet I have and aquantance who make a lot of money doing just that by becoming a youtube channel

I easily hit 60 tracks this year which puts me in the clear for an average of one track per week. I work only 32 hours per week at my job with no children or social obligations so one track per week is an easy target for me. I spend around 12 hours per track in one session from dawn till dusk. I have a 21 track album that is being released through CD Baby before the end of the year which I'm pretty happy with. I also did a double album project with the wizard Benedict Roff-Marsh over the summer that I'm particularly fond of. It has been a wild ride of craft refinement this year and accepting that aspect motivated me to be more productive. I've gone through three different Reasontalk profiles, two SoundCloud accounts, a deleted Bandcamp profile, lots of smokeless tobacco, hundreds of post-session beers and lots of dopamine release.

You know you're going hard when you're searching on the Internet which foods increase dopamine.

My goal for next year is label distribution.

Probly a fat 0 when considering a fully etched release of even a single track, but I've said "hey listen to this!" to a friend a few times this year, this forum included, which counts as something whole in my mind.

In my head I've probly completed the loop on over 100 or more. I can't not write or play with something any given day or even moment.

2017 was very productive - compared to previous years. I made a track for some promotion videos of my sister in law. And I have 75% of another track, which only needs some final arrangement work and finishing touches. I know, I know: the latter doesn't count for this poll. But in the past years my main outcome were 8-bar-ideas. So it's a great increase ;)

Zero, but in my defense I've only just bought Reason 10, I need to finish a track I started in other DAW first and ...I don't really have time for music-making recently :(

Hehe finished? - Nothing is ever finished around here. Whether it be rough sketches, to just modular playground sound design Thangs. This is why I miss working with my musical partner in crime! He was able to set deadlines, and call it when things were done - Yup, I can't do that3e lol!

I have over 200 plus projects for 2017 sitting on my external HD, that will more than likely never see the light of day

I've probably exported more than 50 ideas and snippets but as far as complete songs im in around 25-30. Some are short songs in around 1 minute and the longest is 9 minutes. So it varies how much time has went into it.
