That's not really fair, I see you clarified that you're speaking of PH synths, but the rv 7000 got a major update for a feature fairly analogous to custom wavetables when it got custom convolution, years after the fact. There's also Parsec update, but not native admittedly and it wasn't free.

Point is, I don't think it's safe to assume it won't be improved over time.

Yeah I mean they might still update. Thor, Malstrom, Subtractor. Who knows....

I didn’t watch the stream. Did they confirm whether Europa is an RE or a native device?
What's the difference between a native device and an RE that's included with Reason? I don't think we'll ever see Europa in the shop, if that's what people are getting at.

It might not be that easy to implement wavetable import. The way Europa works with it's way of generating the wavetables dynamically, perhaps static wavetable import wouldn't work? But again, with all the stuff already there I doubt you would ever run out of possibilities and inspiration.

I couldn't be any happier with it. The demo on facebook was lacking because of mono audio. Yet I could still see the potential of the features it has.

I'd gladly pay $130 just for Europa.

Hey guys, thanks for tuning in for those that watched live and after the fact too. In fact we mentioned the ReasonTalk community and said hi during the stream. :)

I wanted to let you guys know that I've put up the Full HD and more importantly the STEREO stream archive on Youtube just now. You can watch Europa in all its glory without Facebook's potato encoder. :P Maybe OP could add this Youtube vid to the first post so people joining later to the party could see this version?

Lots of envelope options, but not for amp? I'd hate having to use one fixed env for all my sounds.

Well you have to download RE’s separately. Remember when they added the new guitar amps and you had to download them from the shop.

You can route any of the graphic envelopes to an engines level in the mixer if you want. :)

I'm Impressed at first glance as i can hear possible opportunities with it and good presets too.
Its the sound quality that matters. There are already infinite possibilites in Reason without the ablity to import waves or have an audio-in at the back of Europa. If the sound quality is good does it really matter if that sound originated from an imported wave or an in-bilit one? Someone listening to music isn't going to care about that.
Is the sound as good as Expanse though? Ive been impressed with the sound demos of Expanse (i know its on sale atm but i cant currently even afford to upgrade to R9!) If i saw them side by side in the Prop shop i still might pick the latter i dont know why!

I feel like that's why europa and grain are in the bundle with synchronus [YIKES] and radical piano.
It is gonna be some new toys to play with.

After watching the Youtube video I'm really impressed! Excellent sound and exiting features. Can't wait to try it out!

One thing though; I feel that we should have one page more with envelopes. I mean, if you use 3-4 for drawing wavetables and another one for the filter, for example, you only have one left.

If you really need this level of complexity (and I suppose it's not on a daily basis) then you could easily put 2x Europe into a Combinator and use CV1-4 for additional routing.

The synth looks slick and sounds great indeed!

I have a couple of question and I'm not sure if they have already been answered in the live video:
- when you use the envelopes 3 & 4 as wavetable generators, are they still available as envelopes modulation sources?
- when you use envelope 4 as spectral filter shape is it still available as wavetable generator?

Thanks :)

Damn! Europe will have a hard time to beat eXpanse.
I'm currently trying eXpanse because of its tempting sale price - and I like it very much.

However, after watching the stream, I'm hesitant now. Originally I was about to skip R10 - not really interested in "more of everything". But after having a listen to Europe I could imagine to prefer the update over eXpanse.

I agree with you: Europe is not as complex as eXpanse can be, but then again: it offers *enough* complexity for my personal sound design needs. And having the stream video and the eXpanse demo side by side, the similarities (e.g. sine wave folding) are striking.

Well, time will tell...

Sometimes CV is not ideal when you need fast envelopes: CV "travels" at slower rate (1/64 of the audio rate) and for some applications it doesn't sound accurate and detailed enough imo (for example on certain plucky sounds and on certain snappy percussions/drums).

In those cases, at least in my experience, it's better to use built-in envelopes, provided that they are detailed enough of course. :)

Holy schit. Grain might be camel audio alchemy/iris. Yep, so far this is the only official grain synth that exists for the RE format.
While europa is another wavetable synth.

There are several grain synths and FX available as RE, Proton, Arkana, Fritz, Rumble and a bit Oberon came into my mind. Not to forget the NNXT and NN19...

The stream was a really good overview.

It looks now like Europa is less a direct competitor with Expanse and more of a cross between Expanse-style wavetable manipulation and Parsec-style generators / spectral mods.

Also: The sound is legit.

It's not just another wavetable synth. As demonstrated in the livestream, it's got some very unique features to it. Not just unique, but also sonically amazing and stuff you can't do in other wavetable synths.

Very good HD. Thank you Ryan. If you could, swap the videos so you face each other when you are side by side next time. It would be nice for my eyes

That's actually how Mattias and I speak in real life, looking away from each other. I find then when we look each other in the eye Mattias is intimidated by my overpowering dominance. ;)
