I used to look around for vocals all the time, but it's been a while since I done that.
Anyone come across any good vocals in the past year or so, paid or unpaid?
Any responses appreciated, cheers!
Seen any good vocal resources lately?

AlliHoopa has some really nice singers/Acapellas! They would require overdubs most of the time because of poor quality recordings but there is some good ones on there. If your just looking for practice at fixing stuff its a great resource though!
It is not too much of an ask for people or things to be the best version of itself!
I wish! Allihoopa has some talent but it's very scarce and "pitchy"
But hey, if you are good at something you never do it for free.. right?

It won't be long before there is a plugin for that; f-ing AI.

The thing with vocaloid is: its no AI, but a collection of synths mimicking different human singers and a bunch of humans trying (very, very) hard to get it to sound well. It's got quite a distinct sound that some people actually enjoy quite a bit
I've actually very recently tried to do a series on composing arrangements around acapella songs but of course the downside of Allihoopa is lack of curation. Go into an acapella group and find a bunch of instrumentals...smh...
I did run across this site recently though. https://freevocals.com/

This is how Vocaloid and UTAU work:
Vocaloid is a commercial product. There are a standalone app by Yamaha and a VST by Piapro.
The VST works fine with Reason.
UTAU is a free software. It looks and works very similar to Vocaloid and you can record/create your own Voices.
Unfortunately the whole software only comes in Japanese language so you can't read anything on the screen except you can read Japanese. There's an English patch but until now I didn't got this to work on my PC.
By listening to "The Top 20 Best Vocaloid Songs" (see video above) ... so no comment
But it's up to you to make whatever music-style and genre using Vocaloid/UTAU.
