Do you buy music magazines?

Personally, I don't. Unless it's a special edition on one particular DAW or skill, because after markup and exchange on UK music mags, here in Canada they go for 28-32 dollars!

And even then, I rarely buy them. I usually just check things out online.

I sometimes (maybe once in half a year) buy an issue of Computer Music mag, to get a magware, or if the one or the other article interests me, but, apart from that, nothing.

I buy Computer Music online edition for iPad. It's only about $7 per issue way cheaper than hard copy. Maybe there should be a poll including whether buying hard copy or online.

Yeah, I've always hated you Yankees for that :D
I used to check out that site a while back.

However, it does appear that they now have digital subscriptions. Free.
Thanks for posting that. I'll have to check it out again.

Occasionally. I do really like them, and some of the samples they include are really useful. Recently downloaded the CM & FM apps but haven't actually bought any issues on them yet. CM has some great plugins too, several of them are staples in my production, including VPS Philta & Dune CM editions.

I buy the Zinio version of Computer Music, mainly for the samples and sometimes they do a really good free plugin. I tend to skim through the mag these days though, as most of the tutorials are just repeats (with newer plugins) from previous years. I need to renew my sub to Sound On Sound though, as that tended to be something I read in more depth.

Computer Music on occasion. For good tips and the cd full of awesome drum 1-shots & fx.

You can use the code BLACK40 at Zinio right now to get 40% of off magazine subs, including Computer Music and Future Music - works out to around 20 for the year.

Sadly, they don't have Sound on Sound in their stable.

I used to buy Future Music, back in the days when it was all about hardware. Now everything's software all the information I need is online.

I'm somewhat of a minimalist so I just reread a stack of Keyboard magazines dating from '85 - '04 over and over again.

In the 80s, every keyboard magazine up till I went into the military in 1990. Today, pretty much never.

Occasionally Sound on Sound. But less & less these days. There was a time I bought Computer Music & Future Music religiously. Been a while since I bought FM, maybe years! I can't remember last time I bought CM. Maybe as much as a decade ago. I still remember buying the first issue. I thought it was the best publication going back then, which was more or less pre-Internet days!

I presently have an active subscription to JazzTimes and Downbeat magazines. On occasion, I might purchase a Sound on Sound issue.

In the past, I was a subscriber to Bass Player and Keyboard Player magazines.

Latest issue of TapeOp is out now. :)

BTW, the zinio.com BLACK40 40% discount only works on subscriptions and not with PayPal, only credit card

Still, CM works out to $1.67 an issue @ the 13 issues a year offered.

Way better than Joey's $2.99 an issue :)

Indeed. I do prefer Google Newsstand though since that's where everything else I read is located. Still a killer deal with the option to cancel and startup at anytime. I had the idea that I might cancel when there's an issue coming I'm not interested in, but the payment is so small, I end up not bothering and then finding something anyways within the issue to read (and/or a plugin to use). Tempting to cancel and get the Zinio offer, but I'm pretty comfy with Google Newsstand.
