Try this:
Set Reason -> Preferences -> CPU usage limit to 95%. Sample buffer to 1024.
Install u-he DIVA. choose patch "HS Angel Wings". Set accuracy to devine and voices to 12.
set Multicore "ON"
play 10 notes and you get the "Computer too slow message"->95% CPU
Test the same with ableton.
get only 10% CPU with enabled hyper threading ( 0%-50% ) , resp. 20% with disabled hyper threading(0%-100% ) -> means that ableton performs factor five better.
The VST-performance( maybe the Multicore-performance ) is very very bad in Reason.
By reading this forum it seems that everybody is happy here.
Seems that I'm the only person with this issue .
Maybe I've to try the dark theme and restart reason, but I think this will not solve this problem .
REASON 9.5 found a bug
don't use multicore mode with Diva
that doesn't make sense. If i disable "reason->preferences->use multi-core audio rendering" and disable diva multicore i can only play 8 notes at the same time.
if i enable divas multicore and disable reason multicore I can play more notes.
Now I reduce my enable cores to only 16 physicals. this doesn't solve the problem.
Hey where is this genius freelancer guy called Magnus Lidström. Propellerhead needs your help.

It makes perfect sense. When you let Reason use all cores a bit of their time is spent for Reasons (and the REs) processing, so the separate processes of Diva get less time.mrnicehat wrote:that doesn't make sense. Its kind of funny how people still blame Reason for the plugin performance even though it didn't even make sense with RE's either. Now its VSTs and people still don't get that its normal code, independent of what the DAW or its supposed "audio engine" (which doesn't exist) does. The only difference could be that Reason runs every plugin at 64 samples, no matter what the audio buffer size in the preferences is. Try the same comparison with 64 samples buffer size.

Out of curiosity, can you try it with one CPU disabled completely but with HT on?
My Workstation is not available right now. But now here I've startet my apple consumer rubbish. An iMac 27 with i7 3770.
Everything with diva works perfect. HT is enabled. Diva is in multicore. I can play the same patch with 24 Notes at one(Ok that doesn't make sense, but it's an performance test).
what i noticed is that it seems that diva uses HT.
I'm a little bit worry that reason cannot handle my workstation.
Now I have to sell my new computer or I have to switch to an other daw.
...Or I can wait until propellerheads patch this. They said they are listening to their customers.

Thank you normen for this 64 samples tip. I will try this.
bth I never said "audio engine". I only recognize that i have max dsp overloads here and If i enable hyper threading the dspbuffer overruns when i load my std-template, while other programs runs perfectly with my machine.
I’m a little but frustrated that the only solution is:
“Throw away one CPU, you don’t need it“
or
„don’t use multicore on polyphonic synths, RE’s don’t do this either“
are only workarounds for me and i'm not very happy with that.
Nevertheless i'm happy that you and all users can work without any issues, but my personal unicorn-universe breaks together now
So my situation is a little bit curious and very strange covfefe.
What should I do to solve my problem? ...and how should I rate the poll the "Rate Reason 9.5"?
