fortunately, i tried the jBridge demo before purchasing.

i picked a 32 bit VST to convert pretty much randomly (BaxterEQ), dropped it in a new Reason song with one REX and instantly Reason's DSP meter started spiking, i heard stutter and slowdown, and before long got the "computer too slow" error. none of jBridge's settings helped, though one did fix the GUI.

crossing my fingers for Reason 9.6! it should have its own.

Not surprising that a free 32 bit VST from almost 6 years ago, that is most likely poorly coded, will cause these issues! :?
It is not too much of an ask for people or things to be the best version of itself!

Is it possible that Reason 10 will be released next year? I am enjoying 9.5 and other than stability patches I am not sure if Version 10 is needed anytime soon. I will buy it no matter when it comes out.

Reason 10 is coming out January 17, 2018.

Just kidding - there's no way to know for sure, but it's the most likely date based on a running average of the past three versions. I did some math awhile ago in another thread:

I calculated the time between the release dates for the past 10 years of Reason releases.

Code: Select all

Version Date Days since previous version
Today 4/19/2017	302d
9 6/21/2016	630d
8 9/30/2014	518d
7 4/30/2013	578d
6 9/30/2011	401d
5 8/25/2010	1093d
4 8/28/2007	901d
3 3/10/2005
The average time between major versions is 687 days.
The shortest time was between Reason 5 and Reason 6, which was 401 days.
The longest time was between Reason 4 and Reason 5, which was 1093 days.

If we consider only the three most recent versions (more likely to be representative), we get an average of 575 days.

We are, as of today, 302 days into Reason 9. If the current release pattern holds, we could then expect Reason 10 to be released 273 days from now which would mean Reason 10 would be released on January 17, 2018.
Now, one thing that could change the equation here is that this is a big milestone, version 10. Add to that the consideration that 9.5 was already a huge milestone - VST in Reason! - how will Propellerhead top that? They might hold off longer on Reason 10 to make it a more ambitious launch. I don't think we'll see anything close to the 1000 days between 4 and 5, but it could definitely be longer than the average for versions 6-9. And there might be a 9.6 in there as well with VST3.

Bolder gridlines, more themes and a theme maker, snap to milliseconds.
3 things, already a good idea.

Wow thanks for this info. I hope R10 does not come out anytime soon, I have spent way to much money this year on REs, VSTs this year. Reason 9.5 could have been reason 10 as far as I'm concerned but my guess getting VST out of the way means they must have something pretty special planned for Reason 10.

It really doesn't feel like it's been 6 years since Reason 6!
