How soon is soon and how close is close? In the next couple weeks or sometime this year? I don't believe there are any secret signs or details out there. Server updates may just be the fact that they have old servers that need to be replaced or running a new software to maintain them. In addition they have the whole 3rd party side to work with so there could be updates coming for that which have nothing to do to Reason... new versions anyway. There is no saying at this point. I suppose speculation is all we have to go on at the moment.

I hope there will be an announcement of the start of a grace period beginning with the first of May and an releasedate of Reason 9 on 30 of June.

REASON is today $299 until end of this month, So any buyer getting REASON for 299 shouldn't see a problem getting a potential R9 upgrade for $150...if that happens in May or June, so yea, a R9 full update soon is possible.

Also, Propellerhead I think, are notorious for taking a long time for full major upgrades, They recently announced that they will now beginning to focus more on REASON now that there Music sharing website and service is off to do it's own thing, that this year 2016.....I see and understand from Noel's link that it's been 21 months since REASON 8....unless they've really been making strong head way while at the same time working on Music sharing (It's possible) I think there might be a long time before we see REASON 9, if they are now focusing on REAsON *in a major way* don't mean that they have not looked at REASON at all.

OR seeing/Reading the Hype for a REASON 9 on these forums might make the marketing department at Propellerhead say "hey! we could sale a REASON 8.5 update we've been working on as a full upgrade for $150 simply by labeling it REASON 9" even if there are only 2-3 major featured requested added. Remember Propellerhead called REASON 8 a success, while some people, me included, thought of it more as a R7.5 for $150

Why am i getting a feeling that 9 is close to dropping?????? A lot of weird action going on and weird post from Apple buying Props or Reason. I feel like something is about to happen and 9 is on my mind.

Why would they do this other than to remove Reason from the market and make Thor part of Logic.

It will be like Logic Pro and 2002 all over again if this happens. Nothing against Apple. I like Windows better.

Thats good information Joey! Maybe my guess was one month off and the releasedate will be July 31. The Announcement then would be on June 1 and the start of the grace period on May 1. The only problem with this timetable would be, that the releasedate would be right befor the summer holidays. Normaly this would be bad timing, because Propellerhead would be on holiday and not available for support and bugfixing.

I would bet on late August but to be honest, after summer, many peeps have used up their money on other things. Spring time people have a more optimistic view. So, if not June and not late August, then October 1st. But it depends on what they are working on. They seek C++ person for Reason development, so that could mean they need a few months more. Or not, might just be the need to do faster point updates after the release. However we turn the coin, we just don´t know. But the sale is a good sign!

I expect R9 with the end of the Line6 devices and integration (Sept), because at that point, they won't be able to sell R8. Plus, 24 months is their historic full version upgrade release average period. Of course there could be an 8.4 or 8.5 between now and then. I would love to see an R9 public beta test, like we saw the 3 week beta test for 8.3.

I only say REASON 9 because the OP is talking about REASON 9 specifically. R8.4 OR .5 shouldn't be a disappointment unless people are now saying that it's REASON 9 that they are hoping for next.
