I have a stack of synths in a combinator that I'm bringing in and out to see what layers best, but when I'm muting some via the 6:2 mixer, they're still taking up resources. Is there a way to deactivate or bypass synths in Reason? Thanks.

As long as the synth receives notes it will render sounds. The only chance i see is to disable note receiving through the programmer of the Combinator. Consider to disable notes for all synths in your Combinator and create individuell midi tracks for the synths and disable them.

Another way could be to control sending of gate and note signals to the synths, e. g. you have a Matrix in your Combinator sending gate and notes to your synths through a device where you can enable individual CV routings or channels. There a several RE available for that kind of tasks or just juse the standard Spiders or Thor.
