Reason UI Freezing OS X El Capitan - Anyone else?
Hey guys, so this one is driving me up the wall. It's happening with reason every couple of minutes. The beachball appears, the UI freezes, but the sounds keep playing. To get out of it, I have to switch between programs [CMD] + [TAB] to finder or something, them back to Reason and it's running again. You guessed it, I'm on El Capitan. It seems to particularly bad whilst using the Reason browser for anything. It didn't happen immediately after El Capitan was installed, it only started happening this week.

Reset your OSX PRAM. (Google)
This helped me with yosemite and El capitan.

Thanks @philosurfer, I'll give that a go.

Nope, that didn't help. Nor did a re-install and re-setup. Ugh.

Duder's, I just received the latest Imac 5k 4.0Ghz this Christmas. El Capitan has been a Nightmare! My old 2009 iMac on Mavericks is killing what i have right now. I've had to go Rewire into logic just to spread out the Cores/Threads. For whatever it's worth, this is bogus and I feel your pain!

Thanks @nikolafeve , glad you like it!
Guys, I actually solved my problem and the iMac is running a whole lot better and I didn't have to downgrade, or reinstall anything.
This is what I did:
Booted into safemode(reboot Mac and hold down [shift] key from the boot tone 'til you see the apple logo), this initiates a disk scan. Fortunately there were no problems there.
Rebooted and followed this: http://osxdaily.com/2015/11/04/verify-r ... -mac-os-x/
Some people found that turning off auto brightness adjustment helped, so I did that too just in case.
I have not had a problem with Reason since and I've just written a new 27 minute long piece without any UI freezing.

hi there...
i just found out that there are NO freezing-problems on my mac-mini (el capitan os).
so i guess it must have something to do with some battery-performance-settings on the mac book pro (i use one for mobile recording. also el capitan os)...
maybe this would bring us any further.
**update** : just tested reason on mac book pro in battery mode. i turned off ALL those "turn it off when battery mode" -things. till now i didn't experience any freezes. i'll do some recording tonight in non-battery mode... i'll give you an update later this evening...
**final update**: so i did recording on mac book pro (el capitan) without any freezing issues!! seems that this problem is solved for me!

El Capitan has been a Nightmare for me as well buddies, few things I can't help to feel is because I didn't do my compatibility research before upgrading to this shit. The thing was all was compatible under Yosemite but my internet worked every once in a blue moon and that was why I upgraded in the first place. It took months to then get my RE working, but at least I had my wifi working. Then yeah I had the beachball related dramas.
Anyway- I got some work time consuming arounds and I'm just have a Who gives attitude everyday I use my system, I'm on the look out for a new soundcard, until I get one I'm just using an old Novation X-Station, although i'm looking forward to having all my hardware connected that will make me very happy.
Zoom TAC 8 or Kieth McMillan K-Mix - Have a feeling that I will go with Zoom TAC 8 because I won't have to use my credit card to buy it.

Wow...didn't realize Apple had removed the verify/repair disk permissions utility. Hard to understand why--just like I can't figure out why they made it so hard to navigate to library folders. Generally speaking I love OS X but sometimes Apple can be a real pain in the a**.synaptyx wrote:Thanks @nikolafeve , glad you like it!
