Win10 Fkeys on laptop

I recently picked up a new laptop i5 and am running win10 and reason 8.3 However within reason whenever I use the Fkeys it triggers the laptop functions and not reasons. E.g. f5 won't pull up the mixer. Does win10 have a certain setting I need to change? to give programs the functions of the fkeys

usually the FN key makes you switch between the f# keys and the "laptop" keys. However for some years manufacturers made a setting somewhere that sort of always enables the FN key. On my laptop I can disable it in the bios. I prefer the f# keys over the FN keys myself.
