Quest for the Optimal DAW Display
Greetings fellow users,
Q. Anyone running a higher resolution than 1920x1200?
My Samsung 24in monitor has just died. Looking into purchasing a 25+ inch screen. One of these 28in monitors might be my next screen given the price.

My 24" monitor failed and I bought a 28" Samsung 4K monitor as I have ambitions to do some 3D animation (not yet realised). I also have a 27" Samsung. Never use the 4K monitor with reason above 1920. I actually think reason works best with a dual screen setup at lower res otherwise you can't see anything. If you have the space and the video card two 1920 monitors are much better than a 4K. If you are looking at alternatives I did see a very nice double width monitor from Dell

Samsung have some nice curved HD monitors. The curve doesn't work for me on TVs but I can see value if you are close to it.

I am sooooo ready to upgrade my duals to 2 of those 4K monitors, but Reason is the biggest issue I have with doing so. It looks microscopic on 4K, and is currently just not easy to see IMHO. You can use your OS zoom feature, but it looks like shite. Now, if it were a 50" or greater 4K monitor and I was sitting a foot away from the screen, it might work.. but. ..nope! I think I'll wait until Reason can be natively zoomed and/or re-sized without looking like the rack was designed when 800 x 600 monitors were the norm.
If you do pick one up, though - please share your experience and thoughts. I'm interested to see how early adopters work around the above issue.

I think a Monitor with 32" and 2560 x 1440 is the best choice in the moment for Reason.
Personally I dont like a view over two monitors.
like this maybe:

4k Monitors are maybe good in the next years if Reason would be scaleable...

Cheers for sharing thoughts/experiences^^^
Decided on a a single monitor setup myself. A Native res of 2560 x 1440 seems a sweet spot then. No doubt id need a video card update aswell to drive a 4K screen properly anyway..
Sharing another option here in this Acer Monitor (IPS was on my wish list) But theres always something - Whats with the *&^$ing gloss bezel! arghh. Prices are hovering around 1K here for something like this in Australia. Yet to see an ASUS or a Samsung offering with the same specs.

If anyone is running at 2560 x 1440 feel free to share a screen capture.

I run two different monitor configurations that work well for me:
- 2 x AOC 2436Vw 24" Widescreen HD Monitors. Economically priced, nice bright displays and decent dpi for tiny print. I use this setup mainly for Adobe Creative Cloud, but works well with Reason also.
- 32 inch HD TV. If you get a decent set, a HDTV that pulls double duty as a computer or gaming monitor can give you a single screen solution that can display two the rack view and mixer/sequencer side by side. Only caveat is you need lots of space to pull it off. I also connected an Amazon Fire Stick, but newer SMART TVs have those apps built in.

My 27" iMac is 2560 x 1440 and I LOVE it. Using the command-scroll zoom gives me a 15" x 15" Thor, sooooo nice!

good man, although the correct amount of monitors is 3 (or 2 + laptop) 1920 x 1200s preferably... that's unless you have cash for 3, 4ks.. never less or more than 3 ....Aquila wrote:I have 3 24" 1080p monitors. One for each window (Rack, Sequencer & Mixer). Total resolution is 5760x1080p. Very happy with this setup, although I kinda wish I had more height for the mixer.
exception allowed for 3 monitors + tv on the wall...
Almost pulled the Trigger on a DELL until i read that Asus are about to a release a 120Hz 2560x1440 IPS-type panel.
4K is off the list unless I budget for another graphics card, going to wait a little longer now.
Cheers
